They are just press fit so I am improving on Pacific Duallies work. THen it is off to the chain/binder store for more ratchet inders and chains. Hate moving from tr...

AND some white lithium greese to hold the keepers in while releasing the compresses valve spring. I have used many tubes of white greese over the years holding valve keepers in while rleasing the valve spring. White greese is more compatibe with your engine oil than regular bearing greese. I had a nearly identical project 80% complete before I ran out of time. I was mating a 126 and a 147. Used the 147 frame and engine, the 126 rear and creeper. Here are some of the things I experienced. The pedestal will need to be changed or a bracket added for the clutch fork. You will not be able ...

Re: 982 and SGTs
1782 has is totally different than the 1772/1572 models which are nearly identical to the 982. The 1782 has the radiator under the dash, not in the front like the 15/1772 models and the 782D. Everything from a 782D, 15/1772 will interchange with the 982 execpt the 782D fuel tank is different. You wi...

Thanks for having my back....You are correct...
Solid mounts may also contribute to the bolts loosening especially without the upgrade...becauce the two side rails may not be perfectly square/level with the pan.

Re: QL motor mounts - what's wrong?
Unless you have new rubber mounts, they will not hold the two rails correctly and th ebolts will loosen up. Every Q/L I get I weld the cross brace between the two IOS rails. This makes a very sturdy cradle that will keep the pan bolts tight. I have jerry rigged new ruber mounts and the welded cradle...

Re: Oversized rings? Piston play?
if you do put in a new set of rings, you will need to remove the ridge. If you don't, you will break the top ring, the piston or both. You need to actually remove the ridge before taking te piston out because the rings will catch ont he ridge.

782D and 1572 have different glow plugs than the 1772 and 1782. If my memory serves this old guy, the parts man told me that there were two different plugs for the 1782 depending on serial number. I can't find any reference in the Parts Manuals on line but that is what I remember him saying when I w...
