Re: 1450 governor came loose

You need to remove the crank and cam to install the governor.
This would be a good time to check for wear on the crank, rod and cylinder bore for wear.
You should be able to rebuild the short block for $300 to $600 depending on your mechanical skills if it needs it.

Re: New import adjustable 30 carb

The threads were undersized when I first check the threads.
Ran a 1/8-27 NPT tap and check the threads again.
Life is good now.

Proving grounds is too wet to plow plus 149 is burried in the front of my trailer. Hopfully by Wednesday the carb goes on my 149.

Re: New import adjustable 30 carb

Why cant any type of cheap repo or this carb be found on the net? I found this carb on E-Pay. Finally feeling better. Had a few things that needed done before I tried carb on my 149. I tried to install a fuel line fitting on new carb. Something is wrong with the threads...fitting won't screw on.......

There are several things on a Kohler I would not paint. Carburator, governor linkage , cylinder head and flywheel. Main reason I do not like paint on the carb and governor linkage is the paint can keep the carb and governor linkage from moving freely. I will mark the S and T on the flywheel with pai...

You shouldn't have any traction problem with those weights and chains.

Hopefully your 149 doesn't like gas like my 149 does......My 149 needs it 2 gallon tank filled every hour.

I always run a tap thru all the holes when I rebuild an engine or replace a head gasket and replace the head bolts and studs. I prefer to use Kohler head bolts. If the engine is for someone else I have used grade 8 bolts on an engine if the customer request them. Head bolts that are reused have been...

Mike,

Remove master cylinder from the booster. Back seal in master may be causing the problem.
