Re: Up a creek without a paddle & Tiffen finds .

The old trailer sure has logged a lot of miles in the last week . Its been to northernmost edge of Ohio and to southernmost part of Kentucky . I found a second 17 ft. canoe and delivered them to a friend who was looking for two canoes in southern Ky. , and on the return trip brought these home . Thi...

Re: Up a creek without a paddle & Tiffen finds .

Tom , That trailer has seen about 10 Ohio plowdays which is about 180 miles one way . Its had as many as 5 cubs on it and other than when my truck hitch broke has never given me any problems . It is a old RV trailer frame and axles that I converted to a 18.5 ft. car hauler and paid about $700 for . ...

Up a creek without a paddle & Tiffen finds .

I've hauled some unusual things home from plowdays , but this one takes the cake..... Thanks Aaron ..... :D Needs some work but will make a good one . Was fun hauling it 200 miles down the interstate with a 582 , 982 and tiller as company . Also found a almost new 115 volt portable spot welder...

I've always tried to be a private person when it comes to my personal life . But I feel the need to post that my wife of 36 years of marriage Laura passed away a couple of weeks ago after a long fight with a terminal illness . I should have posted about it earlier but my heart wasn't into it . I per...

Re: 1811 back from the dead

Eric , No its not the three nuts part # 5 with the springs , its the 4 bolts behind those three nut . You have to remove 2 hex bolts part # 6 at the bottom and 2 stud bolts part # 13 at the top . The crank bolt and washer #10 and 11 also have to come off . If you take out the crank bolt and the othe...

Re: Another 582 follows me home

I finally tore into the Briggs engine and discovered why it was locked up . I originally thought it was a rod locked up on the crank , but discovered it was a piston stuck in the bore ( frozen rings ) . I pulled the oil pan off and drove the stuck piston out with a hammer and block of wood . I then ...

Re: Another 582 follows me home

Vince , all I can say is my area , or most of Kentucky for that matter is a target rich environment . I live literally 3 miles from an old IH cub cadet dealership . It still sells cub cadets , mostly zero turns stuff , but its still a cub dealer . The 582 I just found is from a different IH dealer a...

Re: Another 582 follows me home

Vince , I'm not sure what I'm going to do right now....I have to inspect the engine in the 582 first . I've got 3 or 4 rebuildable 582 Briggs opposed twin engines sitting around , which includes a couple of ones that run but are heavy smokers needing rings ..... I've also got a good running 20 h.p. ...

I've got a problem with red 582's , I can seem to turn one down...... They have to be my favorite IH gear drive and I have a hard time passing one up when I see them for sale cheap . Re: Trying to resurrect a 122

Tim , I'm agreeing with Joe about it being a bad voltage regulator . If it tries to start while hooking up the battery and with the ignition switch disconnected , its probably got a stuck contact in the voltage regulator . I personally BTDT and seen it before myself on my 122 . The contact in the vo...

I'm not sure if all 1810's had a ported pump , but the few I've owned have had . I also have converted a 1810 into a hydrolift 1811 and its not that bad of a conversion as its mosly a bolt on and go conversion . The hardest part was taking off the manual lift handle and changing the rockshaft over t...

Re: Reduction Drive Shaft Oil Seal

Stacy , My usual method involves taking a sharp awl and punching two small holes on each side of the seal . Or you can also use a small drill bit and drill the holes . . Then I take two sheet metal screws and thread them into the holes . I have two old screwdriver I use for pry bars that I put under...

Re: 126 dead in the water

Sounds like the transmission is stuck in two gears at one time ......if you put the shifter in neutral and ease out the clutch and it moves forward , then one of the shifter forks is still in gear . The 2nd / 3rd gear fork if its puts the engine under load when the shifter is put in reverse . EDIT :...
