582 repower

Ditching the 16 hp Briggs in a 582. Would like to find an 18 magnum like I put in my 682. Short term I'm looking at a 1440, is this engine compatible with the 82 series? I have zero knowledge of mtd line of cadets, but thought that series was nearly an 82 series

Re: Running a tiller, which cub do I choose?

Of the 3 options I'd say the 126 as well. If it's a handlift you'll definitely need a spring assist. Not bad with that, I had a no 2 tiller on a 127 once with spring assist and it was great. I have a 782 that's a dedicated tiller tractor and I'd never go back to anything else, it's such a pleasure t...

Re: Original clutch linkage

Lew and Kevin, thanks for the helpful pictures and information. I can confirm that a PTO, linkage and PTO arm from a 123 does work on the original. Will be on the lookout for some lights for it now

Re: Original clutch linkage

I bought it from the original owners nephew. My dad and I bough a 682 and 582 from him, I took the 582 he took the 682. While there I drooled over the original. A week later he called and asked if I was interested. I said it's sold. It's at a good home. Said if he ever missed it he could see it anyt...

Re: Original clutch linkage

The one in question that has the pto pulley has the lever, the tractor was #69 off the line. I put the pto arm and linkage on and it seems ok. Have to put PTO clutch in yet. I also believe this tractor had lights at one point based on the holes on both sides of the grille housing and hole in the das...

Re: Original clutch linkage

Great thanks dale, will tear into that asap. On another note one O has a front pto, other doesn't. The one that does has the clutch pulley but no clutch, pto arm or linkage, it has the brackets for the arm and the lever on the tower. I'll find out soon enough but will the arm and linkage work off a ...

Original clutch linkage

Been getting one O ready for the mower deck, I cannot disengage the clutch shaft and also have brakes, looking like I need to tear into the rear since the brakes are too far out of adjustment? I'm getting the other one set up for plow duties and other sleeve hitch implements, all minor issues have b...

That is a nice pair of O's Rick. Looks like they are already earning their keep, didja get a mower deck? Thanks! And yes, one did come with a mower deck in good shape missing a blade though. Have all the original manuals for it. It will be addressed after I get done my 582. *Also- I removed that ru...

That would be ideal but to get the good deals I figure running around is the way it's got to be. The end justifies the means I guess. It gives me some time in the cub hauler to go to cool places with my daughter too

Nice tractor. Is that a 126 with a 169 air filter? Tough looking cub cadet, like the double stack cub weights. Yeah I drain all the fuel out of mine before putting them to bed too. Nice yours is up and running

Well got it going, ran into around the yard it operates flawlessly. I have to get the mule drive and deck and run it under load still. It ended up being the spring was out of whack. Mark, I don't know for sure it is a series I. The guy my dad bought it from said it was his parents were original owners of it. I'll check for the oil filter provision. I honestly assumed it was a I mainly due to the fact every series I I've dealt with had an oil plug and not a cap. I'm not ready to...

Thanks for reply Todd. I checked compression 150 psi both sides. yup, I like to keep them in their work clothes when possible and shine them up as much as possible through a wet sanding/ buffing. Definitely have to take that one down. I have way more than I care to mention in restoring my daughters 126. Nice job so far

Old gear off, new gear on. Installed and works great! I sure hated tearing apart another lift but didn't care to pay over $100 for just the gear. Very pleased with this 126. Now if only the governor on my dads 782 would work all would be well in cub land
