With a new baby due up back there in three months there is a renewed rigor to keep that drive open and clear at all times and I will be right on top of that from now on. Now I'm not here to fire up a debate but I believe climate change is real. There have been at least three unreported wash outs her...

Oh that's a nice one. Please, please don't re paint it, that will buff out real nice. Give it all the love it needs, it's obvious that the earlier owner did. I made the switch over to non ethanol for all my small engines around seven years ago and never looked back. Faster startups, smoother running...

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later after all it's just before Christmas. About three inches of the soggy wet stuff. DSCN9774.JPG Our power just came back on after being off for a couple of hours. The 102 did a nice job of mopping up. It had been difficult to start the last couple of times a...

Many smaller parts cannot be replicated. Plastic injection molded parts are one example.
To the best of my understanding I got the very last 1x6,7 manual lift handle hand grip some years ago.
But like many of us I have most all the spare stuff on hand that I'll ever need

Real nice job Mike, real nice. Nice machine too, I see your running a hydro pump with it. I like that trip handle mechanism a lot.

Re: Pin on snow blade on a QA tractor
I have a second one of those someplace in the big pile. Probably near the bottom no doubt-
Anyway somebody hack sawed the pins off, I'd think that it would be fixable easy enough.
Why would someone do that?

This is not the brightest Fall that we have ever seen but it's far from dismal either. A strong rain came through Sunday night knocking off many of the leaves from the trees. A warming trend has been followed by more seasonable temperatures. The Northern region reports some dusting on the mountain to...

It's not only materials that are in short supply. The demand for skilled craftsmen in all the of trades is taking a huge hit. Our company just offered a $2.50 increase to most of our lower tier employees just to keep them on board. Even so, a couple of them left anyway due to the recently imposed ma...

Re: Clutch
Yes. Your after market clutch disc is too thick and is not allowing full disengagement. Also, with the anti chatter springs ramped up slightly higher they will likely contact against the installed clutch cover. Another issue with the after market discs is the holes for the three pin driver are too s...

I was up North around three weeks ago and passed by a huge lumber mill. That yard was packed and they were stacking the overflow into the parking lot. That stuff was wrapped and ready for the train too, it was not out there drying. I'm rebuilding my deck. Here's what $2200 bucks gets you now and the...

Tractor in storage all Winter. Ran it out of gas before putting it away. Saturday I pour in some fresh non ethanol and mount in a fully charged battery. The thing started right up and ran good. Sunday I go out to mount the deck. Turn key, nothing. Battery at 4 volts. An overnight cold snap killed it...

It worked. The lift handle now locks firmly in place at it's upper most point of travel. DSCN9444.JPG It does look more or less the same as the factory part but with some changes. DSCN9445.JPG The ratchet detents I timed over by 1/2 of a tooth, that changed things out a lot. DSCN9440.JPG Here they a...

Re: Never saw this before
Dave, you are close. I am measuring 1 1/2" in lift to be gained. Offsetting the timing of the detents the roughly five degrees or so off from center line will however create a part that is no longer reverseable, there would then be a front and rear to the part. I still need to get around to blanking...

Re: Never saw this before
Blanking out a new ratchet arm. DSCN9366.JPG I am going to place the detents at locations of my choice rather than the factory locations. I'm thinking that about a 1/4" timing offset from arc center line is to be expected but a mocking up first will best determine that. I have very irregular terrain...

Re: Never saw this before
Regarding the rachet detent on this series of machines, has anyone ever noticed that the uppermost detent is never possible to engage? It will just miss at the upper most point by about half the diameter of the pin. This is up as far as it will go, look at all the stroke that remains. But that trans...

What a difference a week makes. We have gone from a deep freeze to a full thaw in a matter of only several days. The Maple sap is running and the sugaring buckets are up all along our road. But if it turns colder again that can shut back off with no notice. While the majority of the Maples tapped ar...

Re: Best use for a 147?
Yes, as Joe mentions converting over to the chrome manual lift should not present much of a problem and the spring assist would help a lot. I'm not much of a fan of those E lifts, even the ones with the later internal clutch override. A hydro lift would make the chore a breeze but those do seem to b...

Re: Best use for a 147?
Dave, I did not mount the thrower on the 126 this year and the little 102 is filling that void just fine for the most part. The 126 will be getting an engine change out this Spring being the reason, it's getting tired and I don't want so smash anything. The qa42a does have some advantages over the q...

We are having fun today. I told those guys to get out here last week before the refreeze. But the driver could not get through because of the 200 year old Elm tree blocking the road. Anyway we were down to 1/8 of a tank and I called back. Get here. This was the result. Actually, the driver did a sup...
