Re: Was good enough once
I liked the write up of your build. It got the ideas flowing. I've been collecting 82 series parts for a little while and I think I have enough to start mocking one up. I have been putting some thought into the frame pivot. I wanted to fabricate it from scratch, but I think a trailer ball and tongue...

Re: Fuel Filter 1782
I have noticed that mine will leak depending on what filter I use. Some non-OE filters are a little longer, so you will end up tightening the bowl against the filter before it compresses the o-ring. I know for sure that the napa/wix filters cause this.

Re: Engine swap info?
I used to use an 1862 as my daily machine, but once I got my 1872 sgt, the 1862 just sat around and collected dust. If you don't mind parting out that 1862, and giving up the power steering, I would say do it. I have never had a 982 so I don't know how the mechanical steering feels on them. They ste...

Re: 2182 for a 154 lo boy
Thanks for all the input guys. I think the loboys look neat too, but if it doesn't work as well as a super I just can't justify the trade. I got a picture of the 154 and it looks a little rough anyway, no deck either.

2182 for a 154 lo boy
I was thinking of trading my 2182 for a 154 lo boy. I've never been on a 154, so I don't know what it's capabilities are. Can anyone advise on what to expect from a 154? How do they compare against a SGT? Thanks

Re: 982 power steering leaking at column tube
I rebuilt the power steering valve/column in my 1872. I did it step by step with the service manual. I wouldn't recommend leaving the upper column in the tractor for the rebuild, since the plates and seals are stacked on top of the column tube upside down. You also don't want any dirt getting in the...

tire chains on front tires?
I was wondering if there is anything to gain by putting tire chains on the front tires. I had trouble in last year's snow with the plow pushing the front of the tractor sideways. Does anybody know were to get a decent price on chains? The two link v-bar chains for 26x12x12 are over $100!

Re: steering wheel puller
I would love to get that tool for around $60, but when you compare it to what the prices of tools are now, $90 with the shipping included isn't too far off. If Snap-on made it, it would be $200. I noticed that there were no SGT model numbers listed on the auction, so will it work on a super?

correct steering wheel finish
I have noticed that some 100's,1x2, 1x3's ect. I see have a high gloss finish on the steering wheel. Is that what they looked like when new? I bought a repo steering wheel for my 100 and it has a flat finish.

Look under the tractor at the front mounts on the transaxle. The bolts loosen and it cracks the aluminum housing.

For the power steering I took a valve from a 1862 and stuck it up as high in the dash as it would go. Had to move the battery out a little and make a strut to support it.

Re: Seller's remorse
Todd, It still had the hydraulic lift. To say it was a tight fit is an understatement. The driver plate for the clutch is two 1/4" steel plates one that is 3" diameter that is up against the engine and then the driver plate up against that. Those two together gave me 1/2" to hold a pilot bearing for...
