Re: we made a haul in diesels today

They must have some power potential too. I have been looking around on the web at various speed record setting diesels and most of them seem to be Detroits. Here is a story about the Phoenix which is a 1943 IH truck powered by a V-16 Detroit; http://www.ugofadini.com/phoenixstory.html And then ther...

Re: Voltage Regulator

Here is type B on my 129.

The Yellow wire is for F. The Grey wire is for BAT, and the Blue wire is G. Notice i had to run the Blue to the back terminal.

This is correct for the factory wiring on a 129.

And as Installed.

Re: we made a haul in diesels today

Pat, I hear ya, well almost, over the ringing in my ears :( Mack had a distinctive sound as did Cummins and Cat but Detroit's you could hear a mile away. The worst one I ever drove was a 318 Detroit with dual stacks, no muffler on an old Brockway tri-axle. You could still hear it sitting in the bar...

The Diesel engine was originally designed to run on Peanut oil. But it proved to be to expensive. The Army has switched just about everything over to JP8 now.

I used to be able to tell the brand of the diesel engine just from the sound.

I also used to be able to tell a 283, 327, and a 350 apart just from the sound. But my tired old ears just aren't that good anymore.

That is possible as well. If the soot got wet it could cause problems. Diesels like lots of air.

While it may not be a Truck, it's close. My wife is in a wheelchair and we needed a Van with a lift, so I move her around. Re: Kohler k301 crankshaft seal

When I rebuilt mine I wound up using 2 seals. When i tore the motor down the PTO seal not even in the block, it was spinning on the crank. I installed the new seal and it was very loose in the block so I pushed it in a bit and added the old seal behind it, and used some silicone to make sure it didn...

Re: Trying to start 782D again.

I was told by a starter shop that polarity means nothing to a starter, it will always turn the same direction. We had a Loader that had sat for a few years and we needed to get it started. (We had borrowed a few parts to use on other equipment.) I installed a rebuilt starter, it started and ran fine...

Re: We got hit with a Tornado tonight!!

I have moved a mountain of brush today, I can't believe how tough one of these things are. I was dragging pickup loads of brush down the alley and out onto the street. It chugged right along, my 129 may be ugly, but it sure impressed the neighbors with the amount of guts it has.

There were at least 5 killed in Western Oklahoma, and none here in town. I don't know of any serious injury. The Cub has been a life saver today, I have the blade on it and have moved at least 2 piles of limbs and other debris. The power may not be restored for another day. A tree in my alley has sn...

We got hit with a Tornado tonight!!

We are OK, the town I live in got a direct hit about 9:00 p.m. tonight. Part of my roof is missing, my little greenhouse is gone, most of my trees are laying over. The chicken coop is on it's side.

But both my Cubs are OK. I plan to use them to drag the trees out of my yard with.

Don't use the L terminal, the one on the bottom is the G terminal. F=Field B=battery L=Load-not used G=Gen-on the bottom. I went through this on mine. They made at least 3 different types. One mine the G is on the back like this. If you look you can see the top term at the bottom of the picture isn'...
