Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

Just so everybody will know the 6.9/7.3 liter Ford were converted gas engines. IH made a 404/446 gas motor that was used as the model for the Diesel. The 5.7 Olds was also converted gas, but the 6.2/6/5 were not, these were built was diesels from the beginning. I spent 25 years as a Truck/Diesel/Hea...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

Nahh, I think I can get this one to get a little better. May have to switch the cam to do it, but the 350's of that vinatge didn't get that much better. And I realize this is a heavy truck, so I know it's not gonna get the greatest, but still 8.5? yikes! :) From what I can gather, is that engine is...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

I'm sure it's a quadrajet. Good deal on the rebuild! :) Yeah I figure while I have it apart I'll get a new clutch and throw out bearing. This will be a spring time project I currenlty have a mustang torn to pieces in the garage! To the best of my knowledge there were only 2 sizes of Qjets made, the...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

Nope want a dually and I have a flat bed I bought this weekend. I am gonna keep looking for a bed though as the one I got will work, but there might be a better one out there and the one I got was cheap. Plus the rear in the 86 is an open diff the dually diff is a locker. Normally the frt diff is a...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

BBC and SBC bellhousings will interchange. Many are identical. There are some differences in 2 ton trucks becasue of dual disc clutches. The 2 ton trucks with a SB use the same block as the smaller trucks, there is a plate bolted to the back of the motor to fit the 16" flywheel and clutch. The 2 to...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

There are different bell housings for different diameter flywheels and clutch sizes. I am no expert on it I just know if your running an 11" clutch you need the big bellhousing. If your 87 big block doner truck is manual trans then you'll have everything you need. If it's not you may have to find a...

Re: Old trucks... lets see them!

Next question is a freind of mine has an 87 GMC with a 454 Big block. I don't know much else about the truck at this point other than he wants 300 bucks for it, and it's suppossed to run good. Are the small block and Big block bell housings the same? As in, can I take the 454 and simply bolt it int...

Re: S/G rotating speed?

This tractor has a new motor with less than 30 minutes running time, 30wt oil, and a rebuilt S/G. I had a second battery and a charger on it. I couldn't get it to turn over fast enough or long enough to start, until the temp got up to 40*.

Re: The Official Weather Thread!

I live in a small town ad if i don't have power then neither does the gas station. We had 2 ice storms in 2 years come through the area and we missed of them, one went north and the other went south. I want to be prepared. In fact just the other night we had a major power outage, it was out for mile...

Re: The Official Weather Thread!

If you're where you get bad weather every year you would money ahead to buy a Standby Generator, like this one. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a318/amigatec/Generator/Generator_5.jpg I installed a Whole House Switch so I wouldn't have to figure what to run off of it. http://i14.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Continuous Thread Shooting The Breeze, Just Like Old Tim

Hello I'm new here. As you can tell from my Sig Line, i own both a 129 and a 149. The 149 is a work in progress and is not finished yet. The 129 is my main machine. I bought both of these last spring and they have had a fair share of work done on them. Last fall I had a fire with my 129 so I spent a...

Cub Model 22 Sicklebar on a Cub Cadet

I have a need for a sicklebar and I have found a Model 22 for a Cub that I plan to modify to fit a WF.

I plan to start with a QA42A mount and driveshaft, and convert from there. I will have to cut the mower driveshaft down to make it fit, and shorten the arm on the mower.

Any ideas of this??
