Front and Rear 2072 Seals
Recently picked up my 3rd 2072 . This unit has a leaking rear crankshaft seal. I have never replaced a main seal, the manual talks about a tool to install the seals and i am wondering if i really need this tool ? I also have a bad front PTO bearing on another which also has a small drip in the front...

Who is in charge ?
It was nice out today so i thought i would give the yard maybe one last cut before winter. I have my mower parked in my house garage as my detached garage is full of snow blowers ,decks ,fenders ..., (tractors sure do take up alot more room when taken apart). I park it on a big sheet of cardboard to...

Re: Cub cadet Rears
I'm working on the 2072 rear and would like to swap axles from one 2072 to another (brake rotors and wheel studs are nicer). My question is can i do this without new seals? I don't want to do it and fill the rear and watch oil leak out the ends. I'm sure the seals are cheap but just don't want to de...

I don't know anything about foggers , OR do i know why someone mounted a cigerette style 12 volt socket smack dab in the middle of the side engine cover on my 1572! Maybe a decal will look good over it. Dave

Tom, Have you ever thought of writing assembly instuctions for kids toys ,you know the kind of toy that has a hundred pieces and one picture with an arrow that is pointing to who knows what. Thanks Tom, That was the word I could not think of "lash".I'm not looking for that much work right now, are those thread inserts hard to do as i have not used them before. without disasembly of rear i'm sure you have to make sure the metal chips stay out of everything as the hole goes though. Maybe ...

Tom, I LOVE the avaiation (molassas) stuff. I have been using it for years with great success. I think i'm addicted to the supers now because i have a half done 1450 with the dual hydrolics sitting in the corner waiting to be finished, but have been spending all my time on the super's. I do have rear...

Re: 2072 leaking oil from center of Steering wheel
Eden, I looked at my service manual at the exploded view, there are a couple seals under the upper cover plate that could be the problem. I now have 4 supers with power steering and i hope i never see that oil up there. Looks like you have a winter project ???? Dave

Thanks for your help Bryan, I was talking with Ray W. last night about that sweet 982 hot off the farm he has for sale, and the topic of my blower came up and he also said about the 6" pto pully, sounds pretty easy . It looks like the belt will just fit though the lower sheet metal. Dave

Re: GOOD paint - BAD paint
Thanks guys for weighing in on my paint project. I finally decided on PPG Delfleet Essential Polyurethane paint. It cost more than I hoped, $150 for 1 qt of paint and 1qt primer etc. but I am happy with it and it covered with 1 1/2 coats. My home made paint booth worked great. I have some pics but n...

Blower 451 on 2072 ????
Just wondering if any one has mounted a 451 to a 2072? From what i hear mounting should work ,but it is more in the gearing or pulleys that may need changed? Gears sound hard and $$$ to change but if it's just pulleys that sounds good. Tractor pto bigger or smaller? blower pulley bigger smaller? any...

Re: 60" deck mounting
Mike, I have no way to copy the manual, but i can tell you that the 60 hooks up like any other older cub cadet tractor. Front hanger (mule drive) slides over sholder bolts and clips into the quick hitch receiver.Center frame hangs on tractor rockshaft via 2 adjustable lift links. You do want to make ...

Mike, I have a 2072 with a 60 " deck that only lifts 3 maybe 4 inches. I did not measure that but it 's not much more if any.I do have a owners manual for the deck model #190-374-100 if you have any questions. Dave

I don't know about you but I love my 60 inch Haban deck. It has allowed me to sell a larger orange tractor (if you know what I mean), and still keep my mowing down to 2 hours.

Re: Is there washer or spacers on the front wheels of a 2182
Mike , Something is not right if the washers are rubbing. sounds like you fixed the problem , but just to let you know the last step to installing a 60" mower deck is to install those big washers as a steering stop. Both of my 2072's have them. Dave
