Re: Hydro linkage
For a replacement pin, that should be hardened material. The easiest source would be the non-threaded portion of a hardened bolt (Grade 5 or Grade 8). The Grade 8 will be the hardest and therefore the hardest to cut. I would probably go for the Grade 5 with the idea that I would rather the pin wear...

Re: Hydro linkage
I think you have to take the snap ring off the hydro linkage to get that off. The rear end needs to come loose I think but if you take the rear fenders off and get the snap ring off you might slide it loose enough to get that piece out. That big plate is called the swash plate or something, can't r...

Re: Hydro linkage
No....what tractor is this on? Is it hard to get to...or is the pin hard to get? You r asking us for a reason....lol. Tell us some more...... It is off my 147. Looks like it could be a 5/16" dowel pin pressed into the rod. Mainly wanted to know if anyone replaced the pin and if there were any probl...

Anyone ever replace the pin in the linkage in the diagram? Mine is worn half way through on the one side.

Yea, I agree with Joe, quite the craftsmanship in that machine, the cab and the chute heater system. Keep us updated on how well it works.

Re: Custom Heated Cab and Snow Blower on a 124
Interesting theory concerning piping the exhaust. I always thought heat from the engine through the grill caused the problem. In the winter I block off the grill so the engine air must exit the sides. I only did that last year and we only had one snow where I could use the blower. So I am still in t...

I shimmed the spring with a flat washer, one on each end. It makes it a little jerky, but it does not slow up near as much on hills. I tried 2 washers on each end, but that was way to jerky for me.

It is 3/4", which surprised me as I thought it would have been 1". I noted in the parts lookup you needed to know your serial number if you had not removed the wheel first.

It would be nice if all computer users knew about resizing photos for posting on the web. Not everyone has fast Internet service and those 1 meg and larger photos take awhile to load. Try accessing the "say it with pictures" thread will slow Internet service. I don't know about MAC bit it is easy wi...

Re: how to disassemble the center bearing..
On this site there are manuals for almost everything. Download and study the manual for your 42" deck. There is a good cross section view in the manual that should make it easy for you to figure out. Basically you remove the bolt holding the belt sheave on and the shaft comes out the bottom of the c...

Re: Electric Lift Motor
Finally got the motor apart and brush end bushing removed. Also found a source for brushes and some other parts. See link below. I should have a good lift when done. Rebuilt the mechanical part and will have a good motor.

Electric Lift Motor
Has anyone on here had the motor apart on a Cub Electric Lift? Trying to remove the back cover and it appears stuck to the armature or something else in there. Motor is very noisy like it needs a bearing replaced. Got the motor apart. brush end bushing is froze fast to the shaft. Anyone know where t...

Re: Elecric lift on a 100/
Very nice! Thanks much. I saved your photo to my PC. Later this summer I hope to mount the lift. Shortly the 100 will be doing lawn mowing duties until I get the 147 hydro gasket replaced and some other maintenance completed. I have purchased that bracket from Joe, then I will have all the parts nee...

Ken, dimensions would be great!
It is great how this is coming together. One member has the bracket I need and another one has the dimensions where it gets bolted.

Re: Plowed my garden
Gear drive is my preference for plowing. Cub 100 with ag tires and 110# on the land wheel and 55# on the furrow wheel. Considering mounting an electric lift from a 147. Getting older and weaker to be pulling on the arm strong lift. Once you get to plowing, it is hard to stop, especially when all is ...

Re: Elecric lift on a 100/
Ken, it's like this. I am getting older and weaker and I have this extra E lift and most of the components. Makes sense to me to at least try it. The only harm done will be 3 extra holes for the bracket and 1 for the switch, which I will mount down on the right side of the pedestal so I don't harm t...

Re: Elecric lift on a 100/
I was thinking I could measure the hole locations on my 147, since they are both narrow frame. I did locate a bracket but the shipping is almost as much as the bracket. I will give Ray Weaver a call, because I would need the switch and wiring. I do have the rockshaft.

Re: Elecric lift on a 100/
While I have never owned a machine with an electric lift, my understanding is there is no such thing as an over travel mechanism within that allows disengagement causing the internal gear to strip a tooth or two, so it is not a fail safe design in my opinion. It is an expensive repair when they do ...

Re: Elecric lift on a 100/
My memory is not what it used to be, but I thought I had plowed with my 147 with an electric lift years ago. I found I would sooner plow with a gear drive. Getting older and weaker and I have an extra electric lift plus I don't feel like shelling out the big $ for hydraulic. I will put the plow on t...

Elecric lift on a 100/
Has anyone on here installed an electric lift on a Cub 100? I have all the components from a Cub 147, except the switch and frame bracket. I would need a photo and dimensions of the bracket from someone who has one mounted on a narrow frame other than a 147. I have seen a photo of a 127 and the brac...

Re: Everyone sould have a 100....
I heartily agree! I have a 70 which was made in 1963 and now has a 10hp engine in it. Just plowed the garden toady, does a fantastic job. I also have a 147, but prefer to plow with the 70/100.
