Re: CC 3185/3165 and a 3240 project.

Dag, the GT3200 should have a 25 HP Kohler Command engine. They are awesome machines with shaft driven attachments, foot controlled hydro, power steering and some have the differential like the one posted. I hear that the hydraulic tillers do a great job too.

Re: Drive shaft play in 1882

If you have not had it apart yet I would suggest that you pull it apart, clean and re-lubricate it. They are easy to do but often never serviced because they are out of sight. The CV system that you have is one of the best used by Cub but the 2K/3K machine drive lines are growing on me.

BB, is that a GT3200 I see in the truck with a blower? You are da man! I just picked up a GT3100 a couple months ago but it needs some new tins. Let's see some more pics!

Prolly not it but take the fuel cap off and see if it's a vent issue....I'm thinking ignition module also. Good luck.

Re: 1572 rear brakes

Your going to need to reline them if the material is worn thin. You can buy the material at McMaster Carr here http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/120/3529/=uwcd55 I used part# 6175k819. This stuff IIRC is a little thicker than the original but it will work. You will need to remove the old, clean the s...

Re: 1572 is leaking fluid out the top of steering column

Yep, you need to rebuild it and it is pretty easy to do. I read a lot of posts on these things all over the net on how hard they are to do but it wasn't bad. I did not need the shim stock and I don't think you will either because you will not need to pull the metering package apart. Mine leaked oil ...

I have replaced many of the bearings. I beat the old one out with a socket and a hammer, clean up the surface with fine sandcloth and lacquer thinner and use red loctite when I tap the new bearing in place. Never had a problem again.

Re: rear pto 1572

NBMike, do you have the rear pto setup? If you do that's great but if you don't they are hard to find and will run you about $400 to $500 to get one. Here are 3 options. There is an adapter that will take your cat 0 hitch so that the 2B can be mounted on it and just use the belt setup. I've not seen...

That stinks Jim! Like Tom said don't buy either of those from Cub and try the rebuild shop first and I think the bearings can be replaced if that is all that is wrong with it. I buy a lot of my stuff from Messicks also, they are great people. On the hydro relief valves, call LJ Fluid Power in Delton...

Re: 1772 alt belt

Jim, if you can't get it on you may need to undo the 4 bolts that hold the engine mount to the frame and slide the complete engine assembly forward an inch. There are 2 bolts above the axle and 2 more 10" or 12" toward the rear of those 2.

Re: 1772 alt belt

Jim, I think you just remove the tunnel cover, undo two bolts in the rag joint, take out the 4 bolts that hold the motor plate to the frame and slide the complete engine forward enough to get the new belt in.

BB, what is the rear valve going to? That is the one that should go to the rear lift.

I just started using Rotella 15W-40 in my 3k machines. A lot of guys are using it without any problems on MTF.

Wow, that is a good looking 3240 and I would be all over that one on CL if it were closer.

Re: CC 3185/3165 and a 3240 project.

It's the way the cylinder mounts to the tractor. The bracket that you have on top of the hitch plate has the U shaped mount for the cylinder and the 365 hitch mounts the cylinder to the frame IIRC. I think the brake disc is in the way on the newer style tractors so they changed the 365 to the 207 fo...

Dale, the tag may be missing because they didn't use a very good adhesive but if it has it, it will be on the rightside frame rail under the area of the engine oil filter. I have a 3205 and it will give the best cut from any cub ever built if the deck is set up correctly. The 3205 was built 1998-99,...

Sounds like a 1782 SGT. If the price is right, get it. Those are an easy fix. That model, if it is a 1782, overheat more so then the others. Good luck!....need me to go look at it? ;)

There should be a decal on the underside of the hood that tells you the max temp is 230 IIRC but if you have the original gauge it should never go over the mark at 3/4 of the face.

Nice machine Joe. Sounds like the governor is busted, if so it's the last thing to come out of the engine and first to go back when you split it. Make sure you get some engine tins on that too or it won't last long.

Here are the three I have. They all have rear pto/lift, dual brakes 2 and 3 have front ports but not the first pic. The first tractor was my dads and the one that got me addicted to these things. Oops, pics 2 & 3 had to be resized and it chopped the pics off.
