Re: Diesel Cooling Systems ?'s

One thing I have done when I couldn't find a hose that fits, is to buy a couple of hoses that have at least one correct bend, and some muffler tubing. Cut the bends that you need and use the tubing for the straight sections.

Re: My "Other Tractor"

These were built by Sears between 1946 and 1967. Some have hoods and some don't. In good running condition, maybe $300-$400. The 1950 I got for free, and I gave $40 for the other one. I am looking for attachments for these. These Tractors eventually turned into the Sears Suburban Tractor and finally...

Re: The Official Weather Thread!

We have had 100+ days everyday for the last 17 days, Friday is forecast for 106. We have not had any rain since May. Out in Western OK, it is even worse. They are hitting 115+ and no rain all year. Last Feb there was a town just North of here that had a -21 and a week later it was 79, a 100* change ...

Re: 42" cast iron end mower deck--center bearing info needed

After I rebuilt my 48", the deck was so quiet i didn't think it was even spinning. One of my bearings was stuck to the spindle shaft, I drilled a hole on the bottom side and used a punch to drive it off with.

Re: Trying to start 782D again.

I worked on an Lincoln Continental Diesel years ago that was sucking air. It took 6 weeks to find it. It had an O ring in the fuel filter that was bad. First I had to find a Manual for it, they only made 2000 of these and they had a BMW 2.6 Turbo Diesel in them. I had to build tools to set the timin...

Re: Trying to start 782D again.

I bet it is sucking air somewhere, the pump should shutoff or at least slow way down. It doesn't take much air in a fuel system to keep a diesel from starting. I would start by removing the fuel line from the pump and using a new one in a fuel can, bleed the pump really well and see if it starts. Th...

Re: 42" cast iron end mower deck--center bearing info needed

Here's all the pieces I had just for 1 spindle, for my 48" deck. There were both an inside and an outside spacer for the bearings, and well as sleeves for the seals. I installed the top seal upside down so the grease had some place to go. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a318/amigatec/Cub%20Cadet/f...

If it's anything like my 48" non-castiron deck it is really simple, I have pictures of the rebuilt process I did on it.

Re: Trying to start 782D again.

Another thought is does the electric fuel ever shut off? I could be 'sucking air'. If a fuel line is just a tiny bit loose it will cause the pump to suck just a tiny bit of air and not start. The worst of these are the Pickups with dual-fuel tanks, if the changeover valve doesn't switch all the way,...

Re: Trying to start 782D again.

Another thought after I reread the original post, most Diesels will run backwards, in other words, if you shift into reverse and then pull start it, most will start and run. I have seen Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel do this. I started an Old Cat Scrapper this way once, I didn't know what gear I had...

Re: Trying to start 782D again.

I have to agree on the fuel the only difference is the color. It is usually added at the refinery, but sometimes the local Oil company adds it, in fact the Oil Company offered to sell us some Off-Road fuel without the dye to run in our Pickups. I used to run the red stuff in my 6.2L pickup, with no ...

They probably used some heavy equipment to push it up there. I bought a David Bradley from him today for $40, I had to use a chain and the truck to drag it out. I can probably get the Cub for a scrap price.

I really didn't want to crawl though the poison ivy to check it out. 8-) I'm not to worried about putting a Kohler in it, i may find a good B&S to install in it. I also plan to remove the factory lift, and make it just a loader tractor.

Found a 107, it's in a salvage yard, and don't know what it's worth. Here are some pictures of it. No Motor. It does have a deck underneath it. Re: Mowing problem with my 1572

You might look at the groove in the pulleys as well, I have seen pulleys worn out and the belt is running in the bottom of the pulley. The V belt works like a wedge, and is wedged into the pulley and when the groove in the pulley gets a lot of ware, the belt runs in the bottom and belt will slip. NO...

I run 15-40 Rotella in everything. Rotella has a high pressure additive that most other oil don't have. Also most Diesel oils still conform to the older standards.
