Re: Anyone Want To Rescue a 1250?
I don't know what else to tell you. It had one new rear tire and the others held air. The longer it sets the more chances are that the whole tractor or more parts will be gone. Steering gearbox seemed to be loose at its mounting. Are you familiar with EZ-Pull and Save junk yard?

Anyone Want To Rescue a 1250?
I was at EZ Pull and Save near New Ringgold, PA, today and saw a Cub Cadet 1250 in almost complete condition with mower deck. The hood was broken and the starter was gone. Can't imagine someone would take a Cub to the junk yard. It tempted me for a moment, but then I thought of all the projects I al...

Re: original and 70 round fenders
I paid $200 for a set for a Cub 70 five years ago. That was for the fenders complete with all mounting brackets and in good condition.

Re: Oops!
This is worse. Spindle broke just above where the arm for the steering rod is welded on. Weld ultimately caused the break, but I can't complain, it took 41 years. How many lawn and garden tractors built today will be around as long as this 147? The good thing is, I have spare parts to fix it!

Oops!
I thought the left front wheel looked a little tilted, but thought it was my bifocals playing tricks on me. Boy, was I wrong. Sweeping up leaves today a good distance from the garage and the wheel really looked tilted. Tried to nurse it back to the garage but too far gone. Looks like some field work.

Farmallgray, Thanks.
I do buy seals from time to time from my local NAPA store. I really like all the small engine stuff they carry!

1650 Hydro rear axle seals
Anyone on here happen to know the seal number for a 1650 rear axle seal? Looking for a seal manufacturers number, not the Cub Cadet number.

Hydro Springs
Has anyone on here experimented with different springs for the hydro? I am referring to the ones that are in the slots that usually need repaired. It would be nice to find a little bit stronger set of springs to keep a more constant speed when going up and down hills while mowing and plowing. I have...

Tim,
Does someone have some sort of write up on converting the front to a rag joint? I really would like to do that sometime on my 147.

Re: 147 driveshaft
I believe I removed all the engine bolts and moved the engine as far front as I could. You will also need to loosen the adjustment on the front PTO linkage. Also removed the screws from the fan shroud. It takes some maneuvering and coaxing, but it will come out. I have done this on tow 147 tractors.

Great find! I have had a 147 for close to 10 years. It is my full time lawn mower and wears a snow blower in the winter.

I use Rotella 15w40 all year. That way I don't need to change come snow plowing time in the winter.

Re: LAGC SHOW IN DOVER PA
I am by no means a fan of R&T's many rules, but rules are rules and when you are in someone else's "house" you abide by their rules. For 2 or 3 years it has been policy to have all vehicles, including trailers out of the show area by 10am. I know for a fact that last year there was a fellow with an ...

Todd,
Thanks for your input. I think I will try one.

Re: 147 carburetor throttle shaft
Todd, Thank you for the offer. This is planned for a winter project and I do have a gentleman who could do the machine work. I was hoping I could convert to the later style. Looks like Brian Miller offers what I am looking for http://gardentractorpullingtips.com/carbfuel.htm, but I have not contacte...

Re: 147 carburetor throttle shaft
I guess I was not clear in my post. The carb that is off the engine has the throttle shaft lever like I want/need. The carb in the first photo with the 2 piece lever is the one I need the repair kit for. The first kit I was given had the throttle shaft that required the arm that is riveted on the or...

147 carburetor throttle shaft
Some years back I installed a new throttle shaft and bushing in my Cub 147 carburetor. Apparently I have the old style throttle shaft, so the one in the kit I got was not the same. I had a friend with a lathe make the kit throttle shaft the same as the one I took out. Well, it seems worn again and I...

Re: Front PTO Gauge
Geezer,
The one you have pictured is not the one for my 147. I had misplaced mine and hoped yours was the right one, but it did not line up. After more looking and thinking "where would I have put that gauge", I found it. I will try and get a photo on with dimensions like you did.

Re: Trailers
The sides of the landscape type trailer is what makes the trailer strong. The sides act like the trusses used in the roof portion of buildings with a flat roof. A trailer without those sides would need a heavy frame underneath and would get rather heavy and for a 3000# capacity rating, you would not...

I did a search and saw either that tractor or one like it. It had a Lincoln V12, as you suggested. That was probably one of those where a picture does not really convey how nice it really is.

Very nice 8N with the V12. I would sure like to hear that one run. Do you know the manufacturer of the V12?
