+1 on Ray Weaver.  He doesn't give parts away, but he won't do you wrong, and he'll make it right if something doesn't go how it's supposed to.  Myself and dag have met at Ray's a few times for a visit, always interesting visiting Ray!

Re: 1440 w/ cracked B&S model 29 V-twin

Ken - So sorry, that is tough luck.  I was in the same boat a few years ago, discovered my latest "new to me" tractor had a broken transmission case.  A shave and haircut turned into a major project before I could use it. I'm not intimately familiar with this particular engine, but I'm assuming that...

Re: RZTS PTO Clutch won’t budge

Jon - Welcome.  This site has most of us into the older/vintage garden tractors, not much traffic on here for zero turns.  I'm just mentioning this as you'll see a lack of responses as we just don't have familiarity for your machine.  That said, some general advice... The best case scenario is to ha...

Re: New Project

Steve, yeah, my feeling is with the first nice day of spring I'm always already behind!  Do the best you can, get to it when you can get to it.  I've still got a raft of winter sticks down in the yard I have to pick up before I can mow.  Probably at leas eight hours of yard cleanup before I can even...

Dave - In my immediately previous post, the "clinking beer mugs" ( ) get changed into a new beer emoji:🍺

But in this post they did not?  Any way to be sure we retain the traditional emojis from the right hand pane?

Ken - Wow, and we thought winter was about over and you'd escaped a saga this year!  Not to be!  I'm glad you and the neighbors survived relatively unscathed in the end.  But, while you're going through it, you don't know for sure the power will be back in time.  Glad it worked out.

Ken - I find in the real world, there really aren't all that many coincidences, so hopefully this will be it. I mean, really, how much can really be destined to fail all at the same time? Lol  I don't see how bad points could wipe out the coil, but very easily the other way around... An interna...

Ken, I'd try running it heavily dosed on MMO, perhaps that will clean it up. Anyway, it sounds like you're honed in on a solution.

Re: K 241 running badly

Ken, I think you've got it nailed now. Nothing lost addressing the carb, finger tight mounting bolts and dried up gaskets were either part of the problem or about to be. I agree that coils aren't always digital, they can cause intermittent problems as they start to fail and can therefore be difficul...

Joe, you pretty much covered all the bases, but will he need a different length driveshaft with the non Briggs options? I'm too lazy look it up and I know you probably know off the top of your head!

Kenty, Welcome! Stick with it and ask questions, you'll get it sorted.

Re: K 241 running badly

I think dag was mentioning blue threadlocker for the mounting bolts. Threadlocker on the bolts would be fine, but probably not needed if properly torqued. Also, as Ken says, gasket sealant at carb base should never be needed and is generally a bad idea. Too many small holes nearby that could pick so...

I just noticed Clank's pun with his picture. I often get wearied of puns, this one deserves a kudo! Nice pic, makes one yearn for summer. Weird to look at a pic of bright green grass right now, it's just all brown and grey here. Winter, bleh. Winter's a Humbug!

Ken, I hope you got the melting before the wind! Mild winter, so we have even less posts on the forum than usual. Ken's driveway battles are like our protracted "Super Bowl" here on the forum, but we haven't even had much of that yet! I suspect Ken is ok with that... :D I hope all are well.

Re: 450 Auger Bushings

Ok, the slant of the scrolls struck me as odd at first, I'm not in "snow mode" yet. I'm going to blame them being bent up as throwing me off!

I'm skipping the defect of being bent up, as that's not a show stopper. I guess the lack of shear bolts is an important detail.
