Re: Loader Mutt Continues...

So in Today's episode, the next major hurdle is getting things sorted-out... and especially, getting it checked-out for fitment and tolerances, bearing clearance allowances, etc. In order to do that, I also have to do something else... I have to install and assemble the differential. Now, I did this...

Re: Loader Mutt Continues...

I cut matching recesses between the bearing plate and the outer shell, so that the studs I use to assemble it will not be subjected to shear loading. You can see the left hand diff support bearing shell here... it's mounted in this plate, because the area it USED to be mounted in, has been removed t...

Here's pix of progress... I made a 90 degree riser adapter for the work-stand, slid in the pipe-vise for some careful fitwork. I also found perfect material to make an alignment tool for assembling the outers in the right spot! 20220215_185206.jpg 20220217_193507.jpg The left hand side needed a deep...

The whole 'polarization' situation... The starter-generator and mechanical regulator are viewed at as 'crude' by people who don't understand the technology... since these have NO solid-state devices, they CAN become entirely polarity-identity-flexible. It's an electromagnet, so Why would it matter??...

So... next step, is to get the side plates readied, and the tubes prepared to set in: 20220131_200444.jpg 20220131_201409.jpg Those ARE Dana 60 outers, and the tubing is thick wall. And this is really handy, I made one for the pipe vise, too... I can turn 'em any direction, I'm adding a reciever that's horizontal underneath, too, for holding at 90 degree planes, on either side... But here's the cool one: 20220129_192642.jpg 20220129_192733.jpg Holding the IHCC hydrostat transmi...

Re: Anyone ever split the hydraulics?

Biggest concern I would have, Steve... is displacement... making certain you don't run the reservoir (transaxle case) too low. One way to resove that would be to add more volume to the transaxle case with a secondary reservoir, another would be to convert everything to double-acting, and use the BAC...

So here's the flange parts, waiting from last year. Getting the tube length is important, I have to make sure that the outer edge of the tires is not wider than the bucket and front tires.

Okay, so last fall's progress was pushed aside by winter weather. It may be fouled up and bound up tight... if you happen to be fortunate enough to have no engine side-covers on, you could reach in and loosen up the base of the front grille casting (four 9/16" hex bolts where cast iron grille base meets frame) and it'll allow some slack... The piano-hinge shown ab...

The tricky thing about Ross steering boxes, is that in normal use, the pin wears most at the angle it addresses the worm in the wheels CENTERED position, as THIS is where most of the steering motion occurs... maintaining a straight line.
