Attachments: Spike Aerator and lift
Hi folks, Thought I'd share my spike aerator project, in case any of you are looking for projects over the winter. The yard soil at our place is heavy and compacts quite a bit, so I was wondering how I could aerate it. A conventional aerator would do the trick, but towing it like a trailer is just i...

Re: New 1650
As for the smoking issue, I'd probably pull the head off and have a look inside. That way, if you don't see any other issues (e.g. a scored cylinder wall), you can add the lube of choice to the cylinder and it will make cleaning it out when finished a breeze. If you go this route, you can de-carbon ...

Re: Attachments: Custom Dump Box
Hey thanks Ken! I'm slowly restoring it in between using it, and so far I've got the engine and area, including the hood and grill done, with new paint and decals. I'll be posting pictures and details over the winter about some of the things I've done, including a PTO clutch rebuild. Some other thin...

Re: Attachments: Custom Dump Box
So with the box ready to mount, that allowed me to set it in place and come up with the trip mechanism. As I mentioned earlier, the box is balanced so that it wants to rest in the horizontal position, so the latch is just some added security with very little load placed on it, assuming a balanced lo...

Re: Attachments: Custom Dump Box
Thanks guys! Yeah I wanted something that looked like it was original equipment. The decals really helped with that. I roller painted it with Tremclad Recreation white, as it's pretty close to original and durable. Once I had the frame made, I turned my attention to the dump box. The dump box is mad...

Re: Attachments: Custom Dump Box
I knew I wanted to have the box be able to dump, so one of the first things I had to do, was come up with a mounting system. I use a tiller mount on the rear for my sleeve hitch adapter and I happened to notice the mower lift frame was about the right size and shape, and was very sturdy. I had to tw...

Re: Attachments: Custom Dump Box
Hey thanks guys! It was a good use for an old dump cart and it had the perfect dimensions. Being just slightly narrower than the tractor, I can get in almost anywhere with it, without the extra space needed to manoeuvre a trailer. It's performed well so far as we moved 4 yards of soil, 5 yards of ce...

With winter approaching, I thought I'd post some pictures of a dump box project I undertook for my 123, in case it would inspire someone else for a winter project. My inspiration came from needing a trailer, but having a city yard so small that a trailer was impractical. I came across photos of a du...

Re: We're ready to have some fun!
Nice! :) I'll add my 123. The QA-36 works great, although I need to replace my gear box shafts before winter as the gears aren't tight on them anymore. I don't have a dozer blade, but I switch back and forth between the blower and a Brinly box scraper, depending on where I need to get into. IMG_2021...

Re: Newbie with a 123
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I like those tires too. Unfortunately they're badly weathered, so much so that they all have cords breaking out. If I find a set in good shape, I may stick with them, but 6 months ago I got a crazy deal on brand new Carlisles directly from Cub Cadet Cana...

Newbie with a 123
Hi folks! Just introducing myself. My brother collects garden tractors and after a lot of arm twisting I got looking into the hobby and now I'm hooked. I have a 1967 123 that I'm in the process of restoring. I've got a bunch of stories and pics that I will be posting over the course of the next few ...
