Rear End/ Carriers

Post by KadillaK »

Just wondering what people are running for a carrier/axles/ axle tubes in their pullers. I blew up my coarse spline and have a fine spline with 30 mm axles out of a hydro that i would like to replace it with. Any one do this? Any advise?

Thanks

Dodge 7.25 rear carrier and axles. Axles will need to be machined and cut down and end plates welded and axle housings will need to be bored for larger needle bearing. Usually 1 1/8".

The 1" fine spline axles will drop right in without any machine work. Any other scenario requires machine work.

I would like to find some 1" fine spline axles, but what i have to work with is the 30mm. I looked at McMaster Carr and found seals, but couldn't find any needle bearings. would there be any other place to look for bearings?

If you have the axle housings from the 30mm setup you can shorten the flange on the left one to work with the cast iron transaxle.

I rough cut it with a band saw then faced it on a lathe.

Last night I verified that a Ford 7.5" Limited Slip diff WILL FIT inside an IHCC cast iron housing.

I haven't made the LH bearing support or outer tubes yet, but stay tuned.

That could work for non pullers too!

yep, it sure could... and yes, it does require some machine work, but it certainly does fit, and I've meticulously noted and photo'd it for anyone that has a sincere sickness like mine:
