Like most little boys I wanna dig in the dirt so I want to find a backhoe. I found one locally in my price range. International 3500A, D239 diesel. It runs(smokes some but tolerable), all the hydraulics work and it is in pretty good shape as far as sheet metal, buckets, pivots. The down side.......it is hydrostatic and it will not move......no groan or whine from the hydro and not an ounce of movement. It had a line pulled loose(return?) and it dumped a lot of fluid so we put 8-9 gallons back in still nothing.
I found a few youtube videos and a couple of net discussion and Binder Books has manuals but beyond that there's not much out there.
Is there anyone here with first hand expirience?

I feel your pain! lol U r so close to closing the deal...u can taste the dirt. That stinks Mike, i dont know that machine personally other than a friend years ago had one similar maybe like a late 70s early 80s model. I do know i had a transmission go in one of my fords. $6000 later it was moving again :( With a lot of machines u need to split the whole tractor. Not sure if international used a frame on that or not? Tranny might be one used in some of there other model tractors and stuff? Old equipment is a big gamble as im sure u know. One day u might come out and have the worlds biggest paper weight. Or worse yet.....you will b in the middle of digging your neighbors driveway/road culvert and it will let u down. Good luck! U will need it! Dave

Dave, it's funny, I am reading and hearing everything from it's a simple o-ring to run as fast and as far as you can from the thing.
I have decided that if the seller has all these people lined up to buy that he claims to have I'll let someone else have it. If it's a plow day story(major BS job  ) I will go back later this summer and offer scrap price.....if he bites and I can fix it fine, if not I'll scrap it/part it and move on.
