Some new "Little Tractors..."

Here's where you can post your Cub Cadet based specials. Actually, if it's cool and not Cub based, post it anyway!

Some new "Little Tractors..."

Post by Ksmith »

Hello everyone. I've been busy making 2 more little tractors. The 1456 is a 147, and the 1206 is a 107. The customer wanted them to be tricycles, so I had a machinist friend design and build the front end for me. I gave him an idea of what I wanted, and how I thought it should work, and he made it look good, and work great.

The customer was very happy. He has a third tractor ordered, and is thinking about having me build a fourth one.

Kurt , all I can say is .....WOW!!!!
I wish I had your talent for making beautiful mini Farmalls . Maybe you can give a mini tutorial on how you do it , without giving away to many trade secrets ....LOL I'd be interested on how you routed the exhaust among other things . Great job ..
I see a lot of cub cadets while going down the tracks , its a shame I can't pull over and ask about them .

Thanks guy's. Sure I can let you in on how the exhaust comes through the hood. I use copper at the point were the engine connects to the exhaust manifold, so I can clamp it together...

Here's a picture of my current project. It'll be a 1066 with some custom chrome parts. It should be done in 2 1/2 weeks...

Kurt would you sell just the hood and grill assembly like the one on the 1066 your building? I have been wanting to build a 1066 pulling tractor using a cub frame. Thanks Ricky

Ricky, sure I'd sell the hood and nose... but I do think it would be too heavy for a pulling tractor. The nose is completely made from steel and weighs about 40 or 50 pounds. I could have my machinist make it out of aluminum, but that would get a little pricey. He charges more per hour than I do.

Kurt,
Do you have any detail pics of how you made the 66 series hood and grill?
See my IH, Cub Cadet and tractor pulling youtube videos;

I'll take some time and post more picts when the tractor is done. It should be with in the next few weeks. One week from tonight, it will be on it's way to the customer in Nebraska.

Kurt,
Awesome stuff. I'm glad that you have pursued this venture. Very neat creations!
I'm thinkin the 1066 needs some louvers in the side of the hood.
That is one of the top things I like about those tractors.

Thanks rbeem, I've actually talked to my machinist about that... it may happen down the road, just not now.

John, these are the weights I use...

http://www.mcssl.com/store/midwestsu...m-fake-weight-

For the outside weight, I grind the name off the weight, bondo it smooth, prime and paint, and apply a vinyl logo in the center to finish it.

I use the aluminum weights to save on shipping, (they also have iron weights) and I assume they are easier to "mill" with a grinder... I bolt all of the weights together, and mount them to the weight rack so they don't move, (and scape the paint job up.)
