I liked the write up of your build. It got the ideas flowing. I've been collecting 82 series parts for a little while and I think I have enough to start mocking one up. I have been putting some thought into the frame pivot. I wanted to fabricate it from scratch, but I think a trailer ball and tongue may be the simplest answer.

I have seen where guys have used 3 point hitch balls too.

The hitch ball is a very big and unsightly way to accomplish the articulated joint, but it is "pre-made". Todd's suggestion of 3pt. hitch parts (available at Farm & Fleet and TSC) makes for a much closer scaled and authentic looking pivot joint.

I saw somewhere where a guy used an axle hub and welded two flat plates to form a pin style hitch joint . Keeps all four wheels in contact with the ground evenly

That 8288 super cub is what I hope my project would turn out like. I am still thinking about what type of joint to use. I am gonna make a small model of the joint with some tie rod ends just to see how much "twist" there is in it. If I don't like it I will go with a wheel bearing/spindle type set-up.
This video shows how the joint works. It is really simple. Oscillation is limited though, where a bearing/spindle is not.

Well, It has officially begun. I stripped the front frame and started mocking up the tractor to play around with different wheel bases. It takes a bit of imagination to picture what it will look like at this point, but I think I got the wheel base. It has a 54" wheel base in the pic.

I have another project tractor that has a Mitsubishi 3le diesel engine in it. I will be using that tractor for this project.
