3240 Hydraulic Conversioin

After getting my CC 3240, I decided I wanted to use it for snow removal in addition to it's mowing duties. In order to do this, I needed to change from single hydraulics to triple hydraulics if I wanted to use a power angle plow. As luck would have it, I came across everything I needed....the triple hydraulic set up and a power angle plow about a month ago. Now that I've finally gotten around to it, I will try to do my best at a walk through to help make it easier for the next guy who wants to do it. All in all, it's a pretty straightforward conversion....once you figure out how to get to everything!

I started by simplifying the seat removal. Instead of taking the seat off, then the mounting brackets etc., it was much easier to just remove the 4 torx head (T30 size) screws in the mounting rails. This allowed the whole seat assembly to come off as one unit. I had already disconnected and crossed the wires on the safety switch on my seat assembly, otherwise you will have to disconnect the safety switch

After removing the seat assembly, I removed the rear wheels and tires to allow enough room to work underneath to remove the fender set.

I started removing the bolts holding the fender set and realized there wasn't enough room to get to the center bolts near the drive shaft. After looking some more, I found it was easier to remove the control pedals as well as the deck height control knob. All told, it was 6 bolts and a c-clip holding them on. Once removed, there was one bolt half way up each foot rest as well as one holding the front of the foot rest to the fire wall. All told, it only took about 10-15 minutes to remove the entire assembly.

After getting the fender set and foot rests off, it showed it's 14 years of gunk and grime built up! Needless to say, it was time for the pressure washer.

At this point, you can see all of the hydraulic lines and how everything is installed. After looking at the triple stack valve compared to the single valve, I decided it was going to be much easier remove the hydraulic lines from the single valve and leave them in place and install the triple valve using all of the existing lines. Also, at this point, I realized that the only tools needed for this entire project were the T30 torx bit, 7/16 wrench and socket, 1/2 wrench and socket, 9/16 wrench and socket and I used needle nose pliers for the c-clip holding the differential lock pedal on. That sure does make it easy!!!

In the 2 pictures below, you can see most of the hydraulic lines and the out part of the frame where the valve mounts. To remove the single valve, there is one line to the front and one to the rear of the valve, as well as the two you can see coming into the back of the valve. Additionally, the valve is held to the frame by 2 bolts with 7/16 heads on them. The valve handle is held on by a clamp assembly with a bolt run through it. To remove it, just loosen the bolt and it slides off of the valve.

Good job getting all that "funkiness" off! I guess one way of thinking about oil leaks.... the oil preserves the original finish :lol: Thanks for the update.
