mulching blades for 1450,will they work?

Hey Ya'll,

I know this subject was adressed on the old site but since Its gone now would like to get info on mulching blades for my 44" deck and would they really work with a 14 hp engine?
I allways sharpen my blades but still get allot of cut grass mounds that have to be raked up afterwards..
and also has anyone made a mulching plate for a 44' deck?
any info would be great,like shoveling snow,I hate raking grass....

I use Gator blades with my 1250 with the speed up pulley, no grass mounds on my yard.

On the 44 & 50 inch deck IH had a stock pulley on the center deck pulley then they offered a altenate pulley which gives more RPM to the deck , I do not have the # for this pulley but they are available from cub cadet . JIM...

I did a little research and found the pulley on Cub Cadet Specialties,It is listed as a 4 inch speed up Pulley PN/IH 126393-CI. Measure your spindle pulley and if it is bigger than 4 inches, you will like the results. JIM...

Making sure your engine is turning 3600 -3800 rpms will help too.

the best results I found were from http://www.meg-mo.com. Have a set, clippings are an inch or smaller.

I rebuilt a 44A deck with a new "speed up" center pulley and have been using Gator Blades for 4 summers. I've been very happy with this setup on a 149.
