Cub Cadet 73

Post by Binder_Finder »

I picked up my first 70-series Cub last weekend. I was looking for a 72, but this 73 with fenders was literally right around the corner. I could have driven it home if it was running. The PO quit using it after the throttle linkage around the governor arm fell apart. I put it back together and put gas in it and it fired right up. Also had to replace the VR as the rubber mounts on the original one had torn. Came with a new battery! I am suprised at the guts these 7hp K161's have! I put a junk deck I had saved off a parts 109 on it and I was off and mowing. Maybe not as cool as Lew's 72, but I bet I didn't have to reach as far into my pockets either! (never tell 'em how much; right, Lew!) This Cub runs soo well that I think it'll be a keeper for a little while, at least. Clutch is smooth and quiet and steering isn't to shabby either. It's been painted, but that's not too bad, either! It came with a new in the box Kohler muffler for it and a binder full of manuals and parts diagrams. Sometimes, the best finds are right under your nose.

Now if I could just get that 2084 to run right... (new coils didn't help)

That is something,
You never know where you will find a nice cub.Mine is not as cool as yours, because yours has fenders on it.
And always make up some crazy price to tell them, hehehehehe

Nice 73 Tom  I love the 7hp cubs! I found my 71 pretty close to home and it's become my favorite cub. Should have no problem selling it if you do.
