k241 to k301, whats involved?

Post by cbingaman »

I know this topic has been brought up before but I am wondering. Can a K241 be bored out to a K301 and be reliable to use or will it not except that big of a piston? Is there anything else that needs changed to make it happen. I think I remember this subject in the past that it could be done but there were certain things to look out for. Reason I ask is I have a k241 that is shot and I am looking for a 12hp to transplant into a tractor I have. I figure since it might be just as economical to build an engine out of what I have if I can as opposed to buying a different engine and putting in. Thanks for any help guys.

If the block has 'K301' cast into the PTO end you could bore that to the K301 standard bore, and then I think you'd also need a K301 crank, in addition to a new rod and different oil pan.
