5th Vintage Garden Tractor Show and Swap Meet in Sugarcreek Ohio today was awesome! I had never been to an event as such. What a good time! There was a smoke'in IH Cub Cadet 123 totaly restored which was top notch quality workmanship, and I mean hands down. Now there was a few Wheelhorse that were very well done too.
I had the 71 there as well. Alot of very nice tractors I forgot to say about, for sure the Jim Dandy was smoking too. There was not as many IH Cub Cadets, maybe 30 at best. I might say there was a eazy 200 + tractors there. I'am told next year there will be a huge Cub Cadet only show in Lime Ohio, I would like to go to that one!

Well, I dug IT out of the shed. I had to reclaim the starter off the loader.
He hasn't been run since last August but fired right off old gas and all, gotta love that.
I'm going to take IT, 782 and the loader to the National Pike show this weekend.
I need a show.....

So I'm digging through some dealers box lot of lights and found these things, 50 cents each they were. Of course they needed a bit of cleaning up-

Not alot going on in IH Cub Cadet land. Washed the 71 yesterday and now it dont start. So today I oiled all over with wd-40, wiped down and thought that would make it start. Nope, but it sure looks good! After hearing the battery start to wear down I hooked up the charger, and after alot of cranks the 71 popped over! Runs great! I never hold the key more than 30 seconds, and wait between starts as if I were letting glow plugs warm.

By then its time to head indoors. Want to get the 4 link tire chains on the turf 8.5's and I'll be ready for winter. Those chains are getting thin. Never had a problem getting stuck, but thinking on a new set of 2 link soon. On a note, was thinking of trading my # 1 IH tiller for a 42" IHQA snow thrower. Guess the thrower is nice, so on the 29th I'am headed out to see. My tiller is pretty nice with 2 extensions. Had been trying to research any possiable what to look for's about the qa throwers.

Thanks for the links to the site before the crash, though I didnot find my 71 and 72 listed. I realy liked that part of the old site,ie: serial # listings, ect. . My plan for the thrower is to have it restored/repainted to complement my restored 72 tractor. But I have new Carlisle Tru Power AG type rear tires and dout I'll be pushing much with out a AG tirechain. Anybody know about AG Tirechains and if I need them to run a QA 42? With that I close! :ugeek:

Chumlee the 2072 is looking good. Had a fun day working on my 2182. Got to use the Haban easy deck removal tool. Makes taking the early style Haban decks off a breeze. It’s a little pricy but it works awesome. Then I pulled the rear and pump out. I thought the cork gasket was the cause of my oil leak but now it looks like the seal on the trunnion shaft is shot. So not only do I have to replace the cracked front cover but I have to disassemble the pump to replace the seal. At this point I have decided to replace every seal and be done with it. I have a couple ideas on how to beef up the mounting for the fragile aluminum rear that is prone to breaking. Have to see how that goes. Got the rear cleaned up, on the bench and ready for surgery.

Got the rear apart, cleaned it up somewhat. Every one of these that I have worked on has a buildup of nasty stuff from condensation in the bottom of the axle tubes so since this is my own tractor I decided to drill a couple oil return holes in the main case to allow the condensation to drain into the bottom of the trans circled in red. This should allow for better results when changing the oil, or it will blow its guts out. Hope to get the gear case re-assembled in the next day or two. Need to order seals and then I’ll open the pump. One thing that I find odd is that the pump does not have the hole in the bottom for a case drain. Have any of you guys seen one without the drain hole? The gasket and the front cover do have the hole.

hello folks,
Was readin through the posts here and see i have missed out on some garden tractor shows and such last spring and thereafter. Was wondering where there was a schedule or listing for shows/plowdays for the upcoming year.I have 13 cub cadets one of which is for sale on here in the classifieds.I drive truck over the road and to know in advance when an event is forthcoming would be great. Thanks all! I'm curious what is making the crawler tracks in the first pic? And, We don't understand that cotton candy rain in the peach state.
