Another 100
I picked this up today.Has a creeper,weights,lights,and fenders.Has a stuck valve and a few minor problems.
Somehow Joe M,Dave C ,and Engine Mike's names came up as they have met the seller at Colchester. He couldn't remember the names but a good description I gave of them, yes I did,and we narrowed it down to those characters...Sorry guys

Vince,
You betcha!!
Pulled the head today.Exhaust valve is stuck open,It does go down with a rubber mallet, looks like I have to pull it out to see if I can clean it up.

That's a nice find Lewis
When I came home with my 100 it too had a stuck exhaust valve. Spraying it with Liquid Wrench from inside of the valve margin and working it up and down at first with the rubber mallet and then by rotating the crank shaft got it moving again nicely in a couple of minutes.
I believe that the pepper pot mufflers are prone to attracting moisture as they are very exposed. The engine just so happens to shut down at exhaust valve open position and then the valve shank gets rust build up causing it to stay open when the engine is turned.

That's a nice one with all the goodies. Did ya check the head when you pulled it to see if ya got a LP (Hi Compression) one on that 10hp Kohler? I've been lucky this past year and had 7 of the older 10hp's with the LP head. Have fun with it.

Re: Another 100
Just for info, I was told by a well known Wisconsin puller and engine builder, that the LP heads on Cub Cadets, are only used/found on some of the 1964 model 100's,(some, not all of them) provided that is someone did not swap one onto another model/year Cub Cadet.
May you always have as many landings as you do takeoff's.........
