Howard-

I have an IH back blade and it has no spring. I would think the landscape rake works like a spring tooth.

Hope this helps.

The CPE-2 Parts manual just list them as "Spring, Lifting", part number 23 331 SA. They are extention springs similar (but not the same ones) to what is used on the spring trip front snow blades. They were used on both the "backfill" blade and the "rear rake" to put down force on both. One end of each spring connected to an "L" bracket that bolted to the transmission case by a rear axle housing bolt, the other end of the spring connected to the lift rod through the main frame.
May you always have as many landings as you do takeoff's.........

I seen that listing also and seen it only said spring.
I was wondering if springs from a snow blade could be used.
I have the two brackets they show in the book. I know that they where used for down pressure.
I too have the CPE-2 book. Just trying to figure out the type of spring that was used.

The part numbers are different for the snow blade and rear blade springs. If I remember correctly from the one I had, the back blade/rake springs are longer and smaller in diameter than the snow blade springs.

Hello all...first post. I know this is obviously an old topic. However, I just acquired an IH 42" back fill blade. Finally! I am interested in the springs for down pressure. Is there anyone out there that has a set they would be willing to part with? I am looking for the brackets, also. If not, does any one have the dimensions of the brackets. They look easily made. From this thread, the dimensions of the springs are 10" long and 1" in diameter. What is the dimension of the wire? If I can't find the correct springs, I will try to source a new replacement for them. Has anyone found a source for new ones? Any help is very much appreciated. Great forum. I have learned a lot!

I used a pair of old trampoline springs on mine.
Cut and drilled the "L" brackets from heavy angle iron.
