I have a honda GX 610 in my 682 and it's a good fit and easy installation.

Here is another old post showing the change over.

The ONLY problem I have had with the GX610 is not running because of water in the gas tank and that's common on the 82's left out side with no cover.

Allen, My vote is for the Command. I have a 23 hp in my 1872 and one of my Greene machines too. I also have a couple more on the shelf waiting to be installed in something when I find the right project. I just mowed with the 1872 for the first season and the Command is a monster that sips fuel. No comparison to the 782 with the KT I mowed with last year. Another deciding factor for me is that Cub Cadet had them installed from the factory in some of the later model unit like the 1864. The Command gets my Vote.

I like both engs. The command I am more fimilure with than the honda. The command is easy on fuel, parts are readdly avalable. The honda parts are cheap, and I rarly have to work on them.

Can you post a pic of them or the colors. You DONT want to send 12 volts to the coils right off the bat and screw them up. If I were at work I could look up the manual for it. I would think that there is only one wire to charge back the batt of the V/R. Theres probly low oil shut down on it, carb selonid needs power.

I need to put a new engine in my 682 Hydro.
I have a line on a Honda GX620 for a real good price but need to know what is needed to put it in my cub cadet?
Are there any adapters, wiring diagrams available?
Any instructions?

Hey welcome Lee! I have not done this Honda engine swap but I think a couple guys on here have....hope they check in today for you. If u don't mind me asking ....just so I can have the full story...is this Honda engine new and what is considered a good price ? Im not sure if the Honda engines r like the Kohler where there r 10 different versions of all the same ....say, Magnum 20. Lots of different crankshaft options. Mostly that would affect your PTO clutch install.....so if this tractor is used for mowing that is a big deal. Just some food for thought. Keep us posted. Good luck. Dave

Lee, Welcome! I am not familiar with the Honda's but with the Kohlers they are made to different specs for different manufacturers, as Dave says. I don't see how the Honda's could all be made the same, so you want to be sure it is the correct version to fit both the driveline and pto end.

Our Paul R. might have some insight on this for the Honda.

I have had a GX610 in my 682 for years now. No complaints with the motor. I purchased the motor with adapters from Small Engine Warehouse.

http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/Ite ... -Category/

You'll need an adapter from the crank to the drive shaft, motor adapter plate and a reducer bushing to mount the PTO and PTO adapter to the engine. Choke and throttle controls need to rerouted.

http://www.smallenginewarehouse.com/IH6 ... ry=1709370

Install instructions and parts list images attached.

The following discussion is what I used during my installation, it is quite good. It used to be featured article but the thread was locked and shoved into oblivion because it wasn't pure Cub Cadet.
