How to make metal hydraulic lines

Post by TWheaton »

I was tryin to man handle this thing and it got away from me and bent up the rusty hydro lines.
I want to make new ones, but don't know what is the best material and tools to shape them and fit the ends.
All help and suggestions welcomed.

Tim,

Funny I was asking a similar question on another forum. Here a good link to various flaring sets. http://www.mastercool.com/pages/flaring_tools.html

Probably cheapest way would be to just buy used lines from someone parting out a similar unit. But if you have the tubing and fittings already then a flaring tool is the answer.

Good luck

Most auto part stores will lend you a bending and flaring tool.
Hope this helps

Could you use the good ends with straight sections and connect with Weatherhead Ermeto fittings that are flareless?

I'd prolly just opt for a set of used lines from Ray or ????.......hydraulic lines is something you dont normally make and by the time you buy the tool, you could prolly buy the lines.
I used too think that anything I could do myself would save me money......now I look around at all the tools I have too do anything in the world and I dont have the time too use them so they are just taking up space.
