Ever seen one of these?

I acquired a few different items recently that I have not seen before, some of them not even in pictures.

First is a spike tooth harrow. I have seen the parts blow out in the CPE-2 but never one in person.

Next is a dealer sign. I’ve seen similar ones, but never really paid attention. When I was cleaning this one before I hung it on the wall I noticed that it originally said “by MTD” in the green stripe under Cub Cadet. The green stripe is a decal/sticker on top of the original. Is this something the previous dealer did?

And last but not least is a “drift buster”? It bolts onto a 42” snow thrower and is supposed to knock drifts down into the auger. There is a little sprocket that goes on the auger shaft then a chain that connects them.

That drift buster is pretty cool.

Haven't actually seen one of the signs with the" by mtd" covered up. I do remember that they did add "by mtd" to the tractor graphics, then decided to send out a cover up kit mid year. I'm guessing that the tape on the sign may have been a factory supplied piece.

Jim, I wondered if that was the case. I did remember there was “by MTD” on the tractors but didn’t know there were decals offered to cover them up.

The "by MTD" was supposed to be covered up by a green stripe. Looking at the sign here at C&G I see we neglected to cover ours

The drift buster is neat. I wonder who made that?

i would think that snow dift buster really adds the wieght to the blower as far as lifting it. Id probly only put it on a tractor with hydro lift and a bigger engine,ie. 149 or a 169 or an 82 series

Todd, I left just enough of that sign in the picture to see if any one would say something about it. It is a double sided sign and the other side is in a lot better shape but it is red black and yellow instead of white. The yellow just doesn’t look right, so I hung it this way.

Josh, The drift buster isn’t really that heavy by it self but I’m sure with it and a thrower you would have an arm full. I think the buster would work fine, the problem is I don’t think the thrower could handle throwing any more than what was in front of it, let alone above it.

Ken, I was hoping some one could give me more info on it as well. It doesn’t really appear to be home made, and it fits the thrower I test fit it on decently.

Thanks for the conformation on the green stripe.

I'm thinking that the thrower could handle it. Drifts are usually light powdery snow.

Of course it prolly wouldn't work with a gear drive.

Tim D and Jim C: I had my QA42A blower on my 124 last winter and went through snow that was higher than the blower housing and it kept going. And it was more powdery but there was a good couple inches still going over it and it didnt stop. Of course i was in Creeper low and 1st gear and wide open throttle, but just the same. my 0.02

Tim,
I have that sign in my garage,i never put the kit tape on the sign, but it is still in the box that the dealer received from Cub Cadet.Cub Cadet sales dropped when they added the made by MTD on the tractors and the sign ,so they decided to cover the sign with that kit and took it off the tractors ,sales picked up after that, that is what the dealer told me that i got the sign from.
