Hi all need help.
I know this has been talked about befor but I cant rember.
I know you have to remove the 3 set screws. then pull the pulley off.
that all comes off and how hard is it to get off.

Re: NF pto removel
should be 3 more set screws under the first ones you took out. The lower ones are pointed and grap the edge of the outter bearing to hold the clutch on. the outter set screws act like locks.

You're gonna want to soak it good with penetrating oil and use a good puller so you don't tear anything up Good luck Ken in Pa

Re: NF pto removel
Larry, I’m not sure how far apart your tractor is already, but if the PTO looks like it is going to be stubborn then it may be easier in the long run to take the hole grille casting out of the way. On most you don’t even need to unhook the wire harness. You can undo the four bolts to the grille (careful because some will tip forward) lift it out of the frame, wiggle the PTO rod out of the lever and then you can lay the casting to the side out of the way. This will give you full access and room to work. Like Brian and Ken said there will be 6 set screws total. Then the pulley will pull off the front. Some you can pull/wiggle by hand and they come off, some you can tap with a rubber hammer and they come off, some you have to get more extreme.

Re: NF pto removel
Larry, you need a gage that determines how much you tighten the bolts to get the right "depth" on the spring. I don't have the dimensions of the gage, but I'm sure someone will post them for you. If you buy the rebuild kit that includes the disk and a new spring, I'm pretty sure you'll get a gage with it. Glad you got everything off.

Re: NF pto removel
Be aware there are two different PTO guages. One for Narrow frame PTOs and another for Wide Frame PTOs as pictured.
