QA42 2 and 4 paddle augers

Post by Klapatta »

Winter's comin-
I have 2 QA 42 augers, one's a two paddle and the other is a four paddle.
I'd like to give the four paddle auger a try this Winter. The drive sprocket and shaft are badly worn on it.

The two paddle style is a simple matter with removing the cross bolt and knocking the assembly out

The four paddle style appears to be constructed differently, there is no cross bolt and from what I can tell it is pressed in or welded in somehow.

My question is how do I get this sprocket assembly out? Has anyone here ever done one that can provide me a tip?
I have a NOS unit that I'd like to use with it if I can get the bad one out of the auger.

I like keeping spares on hand as I usually trash an auger every year or so
