Tired of breaking Spiral Pins

Post by Scott C. »

My 149 has a habit of breaking the spiral pin on the driveshaft.
I fixed the engine hub groove, helped a little but I get a month or two of use and it shears again.
This time I had to get towed back to the house by a Toro!
Never again.

I took a spare hub and welded on a bar to bolt a rag joint to.
I used a blade balancer to even the weight out.

Cut and drilled the shaft to accept a rag joint mount for a hydro input shaft.

Got it on the 149 and did some plowing yesterday. It works great!

There is suppose to be a solid pin in there not a spirol pin, though your new setup looks like it will work.
