126 almost ready for the garden

Post by cheifsix »

I've just about got this red 126 i got off of ksanders ready to hit the garden. Added rear lift, Brinly and Cub spring assists, choke cable, changed lights, swapped front wheels and rims, and repainted the push blade.
Also got the 1A tiller ready and belts on the way. Just need to work on fixing up a mule drive. I ran out of white paint so for the time being the tiller is yellow.

Kevin, I figured out why you couldn't get the old lights to work. They were boat lights with a positive ground.

It's grown on me. Someone did a pretty good paint job when they did it and it appears to actually be IH red.

Thanks dag. It worked real good until the thrust button on the pto clutch went south.
Deer haven't been too big of a problem there, the fence is for all the rabbits. Our place is crawling with fat rabbits.

That's one rare tractor, a red 126 has got to be one of a kind :notworthy: Seriously, it's an IH Cub Cadet and that's all that matters. I started out collecting IH Cub Cadets when I got my first one and it was a 126. That was 20 some years ago and over 200 Cub Cadets since. Love the 126. Have fun with it.

Thanks Mike. I grew up on a 126 my dad bought used ages ago. I'll probably always be partial to them. And I love all 3 of mine.

Matt, Dont let the deer get a taste of your tomato's. I live in what u call "rural suburbs" And i fight with deer every year! This year i think i have the upper hand. I put a net over the whole thing. Last few years my fence was up to about 10 feet and they still jumped in, dumb things ! All kinds of fields and food around here and they still have to tease me and my 20'x30' garden, dumb things ! Dave :x lol

My garden is close to the house and I think the deer know that's where I am. They steer clear of me.

I like those HD bumpers on the seat mounting plate. Were they on when you got it or did you install them?

Steve: Exactly why I don't have a deer problem.
Ken: That's a good looking tractor. Hydro lift would sure be nice.
Charlie: The bumpers were on it when I got it.
Dag: Get a big enough gun and they don't run very far at all.

I spotted this 126 at a local engine show this morning and thought it was pretty cool.
The owner was not around and I wanted to talk with him about it. Directly in back was a #2 cart.
Apparently, it was fitted with 100 round fenders and seat pan. Note the early 70 style steering wheel

I have no idea what type of loader this was however the hydraulics were run off the the front of the engine, (note the hydro pump off to the left side directly below the stack)

It was dedicated as a loader and there was no basket pulley or PTO clutch , rather one pulley for the starter generator and a second for the hydraulic pump.
