Well, 240mile round trip, more gas $$ than she cost me and I got her home. I'm getting too old for this though, 240 miles and now at work, yep, this old boy is tired!!

Re: OOOriginal
Looks like a pretty straight and early (no creeper hole) Original. Minimal seat cracking, solid looking deck, all kinds of potential for a nice restoration. Nice find.
From the first Original to the last x82 Series... you can't beat an IH Cub Cadet!!!

Re: OOOriginal
Not too bad, looks like it has inside weights beside the outside wheel weights, what are your plans for this?
Re: OOOriginal
Somewhere around a July August 61 production date on it. Got a buddy that does some really good restoration work and I have something he wants really bad, like the first O he restored so we are in "negotiation" LOL. Actually he's so into this he's begging me to bring it to him, but I have a few things I need to do to it before the final resto and painting begin!

Re: OOOriginal
Okay, so I didn't have the best week last week as far as "purty" cubs but I capped it off with this 124 with a good fiberglass pan for the seat (now to find someone to recover) a creeper gear and headlight panel (with no bulbs) with "custom grills" inside where the bulbs go. This one is one of my favorite model of cubs so it's probably a keeper!

Re: OOOriginal
Restoration on the O has begun, as you can see I've added a few goodies to it and my old buddy down in Russelville AL is doing a great job of painting it and putting it together!
The fenders and the 3point were intended for my 62' O' that's still in storage so now I guess I'll have to start shopping around for more stuff LOL.

Re: OOOriginal
My buddy who's doing the painting has access to a sandblaster and machine shop so he gets most of the parts cleaned up sandblasting them. I wanted this one to be extra good so we're trading it out and he's really into the restoration part of it.dag1450 wrote:Man....that is rough! Tractor is almost thru, wheel weights and then the deck. Can't make myself purchase headlights for it though. Maybe later.

Re: OOOriginal
I'm a believer that if it didn't have headlights to at least find the grill casting with the holes they are not making them any more and everyone wants the lights! Plus they are quite fragile....
Re: OOOriginal
Completed tractor, now for the deck. Can my old buddy paint or what? He's got it running a lot better than I had.

Re: OOOriginal
Wow Tim looks great .
I agree with you and Joe about the outragious cost off Original headlight sets . I do think they add to the looks of the tractor like the fenders do . I try to find them cheap on ebay which isn't easy .
I've been stockpiling some and have plans to sell complete sets in the near future after I retire .
They'll be complete with correct wiring harnes plugs and mounting brackets , for considerably cheaper than they're sellong for on ebay now .
The main issue I've come across is that the light baskets are in good shape but the headlight rings are rusted out . I've recently purchased a metal roller and plan on making replacement headlight rings .
