K181 connecting rods

Post by ksanders »

I'm replacing an exploded connecting rod on a replacement 8hp motor. ID tag on the motor isn't readable. The rod number stamped into it is 41 059 04. All I find online, even in the parts look up over several years of motors is 41 067 10. I know there were a lot of subtle changes on the little 7 and 8 motors. Will the 41 067 10 rod work?

41-067-10 and 41-067-08 (mahle) both have 41 059 04 stamped on the part.

So the rod from a 161 and a 181 are interchangeable is what I gather from this, correct? A friend of mine was rebuilding one recently and we never did really get this figured out.

I don't think the rods for K161 and K181 are interchangeable. I think the K161 rod is longer than the K181 rod. I was rebuilding a K181 block and accidentially ordered a K161 rod and the piston extended above the top of the cylinder. Orderd a K181 rod and all is well.
