leaking axle cub cadet original
i recently changed the trans fluid in my 1961. the fluid was quite low but not empty. i filled up to the drain plug in the side of the case. now i have a leak in my axle shaft. what does it take to fix this? i looked at the parts breakdown and it does not look like these even had a seal and rely solely on the two bushings to hold fluid back. the parts breakdown i have says that these parts are NLA. are they simply a standard bushing with a hole drilled for the grease fitting. what are the odds that the axle is worn as well as the bushing or does the bushing wear out faster then the axle?

I think there are seals in the diff bearing retainers. I think you have to take the axle housings off

I agree with Mike. My TC-113 parts manual section A (Cub Cadet) indicates item #1 is an oil seal.
The second image shows the part number. 2 are required, one per side. Probably best to do both sides as the axle shaft has to come out for replacement.

Double chech the bushings also while the axle tubes are off.
