Everyone sould have a 100....

Post by Paul B »

This one got in my truck yesterday. Was built in June 1964, and was bought new and owned by the same family until I bought it. The second seat was to give grandchildren a ride (not while mowing I hope)

I heartily agree! I have a 70 which was made in 1963 and now has a 10hp engine in it. Just plowed the garden toady, does a fantastic job. I also have a 147, but prefer to plow with the 70/100.

My 100 has been parked under our deck for at least two years. There's nothing wrong with it and I ran it out of gas first and then took the battery out.

I'm sure with fresh gas, a battery, and some points filing she would touch right off.
Two working machines at any given time are everything that I need to get things done around the house, I guess it would see more use if that 1100 pound clutch spring were not in there.

I have owned several 70/100's over the years, and some of them were custom's (Orchard, High clear, cultivision, etc) and always said I would always have a 100 or if I didn't I knew where one was for sale. When I sold the last one I had, the one I knew of for sale at that time turned out the owner thought more of it than I did. I was without one for awhile until this one found me. Seems my local dealer had serviced this 100 for a number of years and gave my contact info to the PO when he decided to sell it.

Paul-

That 100 couldn't have strayed more than a few miles from where it was "born" off of Crittenden Lane! I mow weekly with a homely 70 but still own several 70 and 100 machines including the second one 65459.
Thanks for sharing

Craig, It has lived within 20 miles of where the IH plant was, all of it's life. Now it lives about half that distance from where the IH plant was, and the selling dealer was less than 5 miles from the IH plant, but the plant and selling dealer no longer exist.
