Plowed my garden

Last summer I bought a 128 to use for plowing. Had never plowed with a gear drive. so this past Saturday I had the chance. As the tractor was set up for the snow plow this winter (never used it because of no snow) it still had the wheel weights (92#s per side) and chains still on it. Hung the brinley plow on and went to the garden. I was really surprised on how well it did. I plowed about 6-7" deep in 2nd gear and never ran out of traction or power. Got the garden done so I went to the edge of the field next to my yard. There a large hump has formed so I started out about 5' in the field and rolled it out into the field. All together it took about 2 hours. About half way thru I realized I was breaking 2 of AW's cardinal rules so I took my wallet and cell phone and went and put them into the truck.
One thing I did miss from the Hydro was the hydraulic lift.
I really eyed the big field of bean stubble north of the yard but didn't know how the farmer would take to me plowing up a chunk as he might no-till corn in it. I already had talked to him about rolling the hump out.
Makes me want another plow day.

David - Sounds like one of those real rewarding days where everything just works out. You need a photographer with you next time! Even a tractor shot, and the before and after; then we can make up the movie in our heads!

Gear drive is my preference for plowing. Cub 100 with ag tires and 110# on the land wheel and 55# on the furrow wheel. Considering mounting an electric lift from a 147. Getting older and weaker to be pulling on the arm strong lift. Once you get to plowing, it is hard to stop, especially when all is going well!
