I am new to this forum. I have a '72 108 that I have had since '79. I am restoring it and need some help in that regard. Can someone tell me where is the best place to get the most correct colors for this '72 machine S# 439240? White and yellow. I need a quart but also spray can paint too, if available. Tks for any advice.

Welcome new guy.
On the white, charts call for 935......but the couple 109 I have seen it seems a little lighter....more like the prior models. Idk... probably just faded. This 935 is the exact same color at Rust-Oleum almond. I have used quarts of that with hardner and had great success. But if that's not what u want....find a case ih dealer and get the iron gard 935 paint. Very nice and prices are good too.

I got some paint. An auto paint jobber we use got a match with the old Ditzler 81518 on the yellow and it matches real well. They took a computer photo of a panel on the white so I know that will match. Got acrylic enamel with a hardener. Sandblasted the deck.

Great. If your going that far....use a little body filler and fix some of the defects. Small pits and dents and stuff. U will b glad u did when it's all done. Keep the pics coming

That 45 year old paint is tough. Doesn't want to come off.

Mike, it's nice to see one pulled out of storage for a refresh. Dave has done a lot of paint, so you have the right guy on your thread here.

I do some restoration work on some old cars so I have a number of tools: outside sandblaster and inside bead blaster. we used both of those plus d/a sander. We hit this 108 pretty hard with a right angle grinder also. That old IH paint was stuck on there pretty good! Tks.

i built a house on 3 acres of land in '79. I called Wright Motor and Equipment in Crystal Sprinngs, Ms , my old hometown. They sold Pontiacs, Ramblers and International tractors (and probably some more lines). I could not afford a new IH so I asked them if they knew where a used one was and they said to call a guy out W of Clinton, Ms. I went out there and bought this CC, June '79. It mowed that big yard for the next 20 years. A CC is about impossible to wear out, although this one did have one new short block and then 2 rebuilds on that. I sold it once in a weak moment but the guy, my friend, said it did not have the HP he needed and so he thankfully gave it back to me. It'll never leave again. A photo here of my shop where we do my classic car restoration 'hobby' exists. And a couple of Gbabies.

Is the metal seat back/frame suppose to be white?

Nice story. Yes white seat pan.

We are moving ahead. Got most of the white painted. The yellow (Federal Yellow) needs 3 coats to cover that gray epoxy primer so we ran out of that. I'll get some more next week.

I'm very jealous of your shop.

I have never replaced the clutch (rear of the engine?) or the power take off (front of the engine?). Now is the time. Can you still buy those items? Any advice appreciated.

Yes, new can still be had. Ive had good results with the guys selling them on epay. Be sure to blast the clutch surfaces and paint apart. Resemble with new discs teaser springs PTO buttons etc. look for wear on the drive shaft itself, those often need to be replaced as well. Keep up the good work!

Would some of you good folks have the part numbers for the power take-off and clutch? PTO take off button too (if that is a separate part). 1972 IH CC 108 w 10hp Kohler.

The center tunnel cover was painted white from the factory. It’s yours do what you want this time around though!

Well, I missed the tunnel cover and it is yellow. Not too late, it can be white. What is the 'mower mule drive'? The seat is a replacement and the metal seat back is black. Needs to be white I think. Metal foot 'pads' are suppose to be black. I'll do that. Tks for any and all guidance. Mike

The idler pulley (see photo) on the deck on this 108 is worn out. Any of you folks know where I can get that pulley? Tks.

IH-542520-R91. Should be available from anyplace that sells Cub parts.That's just the pulley. If other parts are needed look them up on the Cub parts web site.

I just type in the number on epay it will come up with a after market pulley/part number.then search just that part number.should be about $10-15

Seat mount is on backwards?
