Loader Plow mounts
So twice in the past week we have gotten less then 2” of snow. Not enough to justify mounting the Plow on the pick-up. My wife also daily drives our “plow truck” so when she is at work after these mini snows I can’t mount and go anyway. Also the day after the big snows she is out and I can do a bit of clean up of the packed snow or a bit I may have forgotten. I would like down pressure and angle ability. Back blading is important as well. The kwik way on the 1872 worked ok for this... I would like to mount a IH snow Plow I have on the front. It’s a 42” someone else widened to 58”. Quick mounting is a plus looking for pictures and ideas!
I have a basic plan but I’m open to ideas and thoughts. At this point the A frame is basically standard issue. My thoughts are to weld a peice of 2” angle iron to the bottom to create a C open to the rear. Weld a nice big O ring to hold some ratchet straps to go back to the top of the bucket. I may go one step further and drill holes in the bottom of the angle and weld 1/2 or 5/8” nuts on the inside, this will make the slot smaller and slow me to put a bolt on the bottom to clamp the blade to the bucket. I only want to modify the A frame not the rest of the Plow or the loader bucket at all. Thoughts on my design? I know I’m not the best with words and pictures are better.... I’m just thinking out loud right now!

Joey,
A leaf blower works well for the 2" stuff.
No other cubs for snow removal lying around? I thought you had a bunch.
Okay I did some research in the library and found this picture for you.

I've got a couple supers right now and could spend the time to mount them, I just think would be easier to have one for the loader! I still might mount one anyway though! just got do a engine swap tune up and what not fist. I'm not flipping them as often as I once was either so the last 5 -10 years worth of fix it, plow it, sell before spring is over, for now anyway. Seams I found most of the plows around here too! not really what i was going for either I've seen the pictures of Sams rig a few times, was hoping to put one on the loader so i can push back the banks some too!

Re: Loader Plow mounts
All done shopping, spent the last 3 hours making this up...
I mounted it up with just the 5/8 bolts and a few tack welds. It holds but I’m sure it would have sheared off in no time.
I forgot to take a picture of the flat stock I added but it can be seen in the finshed product the straps are hooked to them as well. I can’t take full credit for this design I was talking to a friend who commented about making it work like those clamp on forks. I also want to give credit to the “I save tractors” guy and his U tube videos. The straps where his idea! I get to test it out for Christmas! Calling for 1-4”
I made the clamp like I tried to discrbe above.
Note the blade has already been widened to 54” the lift bracket will not be needed so off it went. The spring was MIA for the angle lock the spring for dry brakes from a 82 Series I had parted works perfect as the replacement!I mounted it up with just the 5/8 bolts and a few tack welds. It holds but I’m sure it would have sheared off in no time.

Re: Loader Plow mounts
Joe, I was having trouble trying to wrap my head around what you were trying to do but I get it now, that's pretty cool.
We got five inches so far today, it's still coming down. There will be no light duty service here.
The weather is calling for a freezing rain sleet mix tomorrow. Ugh!
I'm gassed and greased ready to roll but the batteries are inside the house staying nice and warm and fully charged.
Heck, I can toss one back in four minutes.

Looks good! I have seen I save tractor guy. He has some neat builds. Very energetic guy!

Looks good Joe.
If you weld a piece of tube across the top edge of the bucket it will add tremendous stiffness.

i need to do something up there, this loader was basically new a year ago, most of the scratches are mine! the top 'foil' is kinda silly blocks light at night and is flimsy. not sure what i want to do there but i think it's coming off...

Re: Loader Plow mounts
It worked well inthe forward direction but.... when I tryied to back blade everything fell off! There is a lot of flex past the mounts. I’m going to weld some plates further back and add more bolts/nuts. This should keep the back clamped together and keep the Plow attached lucky the straps where there when it fell off I finshed my pass and curled the bucket back and went inside. Never got off the seat!
Now to spend time with the family! Merry Christmas all!

Re: Loader Plow mounts
We will see what this does! I had these 5/16 plates left over from a work project. I burned them in along with there included nuts. 8 bolts instead of 4! Hopefully that holds it!

Re: Loader Plow mounts
G'mornin' fellers!
Joe... I was amidst rebuilding the bucket on Loader-Mutt (A Johnson Workhorse 20) and was conceptualizing a quick-attach bucket system so I could rapidly switch between a variety of implements, to include a rock-sorting bucket, smooth bucket, toothed bucket, trenching bucket, brush grapple, and snow blade, and I have an idea, but haven't wrangled it to fruition yet, but here it is, in case you think of a slick way to make it happen...
The quick-attach faces pivot with one hydraulic circuit... the boom lifts with the other... so I'll add a third attachment point in the middle of the boom to allow an implement to be rigidly locked to the end of the boom. From there, the tilting face will have some sort of link that goes to the implement such that it can instead, close the grapple, swing the snowblade, etc.
