Sorted hardware today!
I spent a hour or so today and sorted re-zinced hardware. Most is IH logo, some WP. Everything in the pile is cub cadet related for sure. The big brackets are for the casters on the front of a 60” deck. Oh and some 2/3 series grill mesh.

VERY NICE! That is a great feeling to get that hardware back (and know they didn't loose any). Do you know the process they used? When I had some done they threw it all in a drum with a door and lots of holes.....then the drum tumbled and dunked from station to station.
Man that looks NICE!

I’m guessing a few where lost always lose some! I did find a few 1/4-28x1” without the IH or WP logos. Not sure who lost them but I know they are not ours!

Wow, that's great Joe, those grilles really came out nice.
It's really hard to fish out every last nut and bolt when the stuff all goes into the media tumble rinse and other stuff usually finds it's way in.
Some years back I had a five gallon pail of all IH hardware that was one third full and sold it all at a show for twenty bucks, I still want to kick myself every time I think about it

Few years back I was very close to buying one of those media tumblers...like for gun shells. I thought that was such a neat idea. Then I was going to build one using a cake pan and palm sander....then I looked into a mallassis tank...then was gonna fill a kiddy pool with vinegar.... I ended up doing none of it...I dropped it all off at the zinc Plating drive through and saved myself a lot of slow painful nights

Lots of prep work here. I have hours and hours of sand blasting and shaking a french fry basket. Once about 5 or 10 minutes goes by I would dump on the bench sort out the ones that are ran and ready for zinc and the ones that need more. A third pile is the scrap pile. These are the non-ih bolts that made it into the basket. After that it’s easy just drive the hour and drop them off! 3 weeks later pay and pick up!

I bet it was Joe. If someone ever invents a system that can clean caked on rust, removes large burrs, restores threads, and revives damaged flats from wrenches by throwing them in a barrel they will become a billionaire. Media tumble is far from perfect but these days there's a wide selection of media for specific applications to choose from. I don't know a whole lot about it and choose to remain that way And your totally right, the cleaner and less burr free parts are going in the better they come out.
One of our tumble machines just came back in last week after a month long restoration, that particular one is about the size of a three person hot tub. Some higher thinking mind up in the front office decided it was OK to toss in some 5 pound Inconel parts shaped like boomerangs and they destroyed the rubber liner inside the tank so it had to be resealed.
Zinc coating is really toxic and we veer off from that, send it out all right and let someone else breath that. Our branch shop deals with both anodizing and class 3 hard coating now and that's done out in back, away from me ,and plenty toxic enough.
