Cub Cadet 44A Mower Question

Post by Wacenturion »

Recently purchased a 1977 1650 with a 44A mower. Question is most of then 44A mowers I see do not have the front wheels. Mine however does have front wheels on it. Was this an option or did IH offer a kit to accept front wheels like those on the 44C' decks I believe? Assuming it made a difference mowing.
Thanks

Don’t think the A decks ever came with wheels. The C decks did. IH did offer a weld on wheel kit. Yours does not have that kit. The set up you have is a previous owner mod. The IH kit looks like this

Are the above deck wheel brackets available? Is there a particular location on the front for them?

I used to see them around more often. IHCCW.com has a set for $85..... yikes. Ebay also has one. I have been successful cutting them off an old deck and they came out great. If I remember...they were pretty close to in line with the back wheels.

CC Specialties has them for $55. Patton Acres has them with wheels for $110. If you go that route I can snap some pics of mine. I like them on there.
