109 hydro problem

Post by cwcub »

I finally got the 109 together, mostly. When trying to start engine after a few rev of the starter the hydro builds pressure and tries to move forward even though my foot is on the brake holding linkage in neutral position. I pulled the relief valves and cleaned they seem to be fine. Not sure what to look for on this?

Sounds like your linkage is out of adjustment. You're holding it in neutral with the brake pedal but the linkage isn't lining up with neutral. It's the rod that runs back to the trunion or the plate that mounts to the rear end with two 9/16" headed bolts with the slot that holds it in neutral while pushing the pedal. Loosen the two bolts and move that plate up or down a little and retighten. Wish I had pics to help

I put it back on jack stands and fired it up. The linkage is out of wack. Neutral is when the lever is half way to reverse position. I think I need to lengthen the first rod off of lever to hydro plate linkage thanks for the tip. I was expecting something much worse since this is my first hydro disassembled

Just as you said slid the plate up a bit and it works fine thank you. I need to tighten the resistance on the hydro lever it keeps speeding up
