Paul
Only way to know for sure is to pull off the air filter and get the model number of carb. Also the fuel pumps are know to go bad, both could be the issue. If it is the pump change over to the diaphragms style pump. Do some Diagnostic work and let us know.

Joe,
I already put a pulse pump on. Either it's bad or the needle is stuck open.

It's on my 1811 which has the thrower, grrrr.

Paul.... yeah I had that happen once. It sucks. You probably already drained oil/gas. I want to tell others. Get ready for a bath when you pull the drain plug. Mine was in the Pistons too.
One thing I have noticed over the years is there seems to be NO standard carb. I kinda think walbro fixed jet was more common in those years.
My problem was on a 2072 and it was the needle. I could look down with a trouble light and see wet down in the 90 at the base of the air cleaner. My walbro didn't have a replacable seat....so I used an old needle and devised a contraption to mount in the drill and honed out the seat. It took a while but I got it.
Search "needle and seat"...or "leaking carb"....you may find my thread.

Dave, thanks for the suggestion on watching out draining. I haven't drained yet. I'll look fora 2 stroke owner to donate the contaminated oil/gas.

Nice 50 deg F day in December!

Oil and gas are draining, a quick turn over sent gas flying! Carb needle has been replaced.

Think I'll fill with oil, run a few minutes, drain and fill again, make sense?

That sounds good. The pump and oil gallies could be holding some gas. Keep looking down the air cleaner hole and look for wetness....till you can be sure. Like I said...I had to mess around with the seat as well. Another good thing would be to install a cheap fuel shut off. I did that on one tractor.....it was a pain till I got used to it. None of my current machines have a shutoff....but now I'm always checking oil before I get on the tractor.

1811 is running again. No signs of carb leaking. Oil filled and run till warm. Need to pick up some more 10W-30 and drain, refill and new filter tomorrow.
