125 driveshaft repair

Sorry I forgot to take before pictures!
My old 125 with danco loader lost the dowel pin on the Driveshaft about 10 years ago in the middle of s snow storm in the middle of the street! I used the loader to push myself off the road and replaced the pin. It went shooting out 20 feet up my neighbors driveway. I went to the auto Parts store and picked up a bigger hose clamp and a short peice of radiator hose. New pin and the hose/clamp to keep it installed. About 4 years ago the exact same thing happened! The hose had been chewed up and the pin went in my new driveway again mid snow clean up. This time I used a 1/4-20 with a nut. It held up for about 2 years and again broke. At this point I had sold it to a friend here in town and I upgraded to a 1872/kiwk-way. He used a bolt on and off and it kept braking or shooting out. Finally he had enough and dropped it for me...using parts from a QL this is what I came up with...::

Next up is the leaky pump and both curl Pistons. Looking for part numbers if anyone has any for a rd-2000. Not having much luck on-line. When I get numbers I’ll get parts and do a thread for instructions and to keep the part numbers handy.

Nice to see you on here. Thanks for looking, please post what you have dave and I are trying to get a list together for the FAQ

Dave
That kit is missing the retaining ring, it’s basically a peice of key stock with a tag bent in one end, a point on the other.

I sent the guy that owns it to the loacal shop with that picture on his phone. 2 hours later he left and called the place on the receipt. Hoping they can drop ship parts to us this week.... still on the hunt for the seal, just need to pull it out and measure it up.

It’s all back together, well almost. I stripped out a aluminum fitting as I cross threaded it upon reasonably. 4$ on epay and it will be here mid-week. With work I don’t think I could get one locally before then anyway. Soooo another week before I know if my repairs work or not! I’ll keep everyone posted.

Always one getting saved here!

I’ve got 5 here that are in for repairs and to get going again. Now they just need to find new homes! The danco was a keeper for me and now it is a keeper for my friend rick!

Another parts lost from a different place for the seals…. I like the prices from 3 years ago better!

I did that drive shaft modification on my Cub 147 a couple of years ago.  Much better reliability.

Has anyone put a coupling joint like that on a Cub 70 at the transaxle?  Those solid couplings seem to get loose quickly.
