Re: The Official Weather Thread!
Well, as far as I'm concerned it's way too early in the season for this kind of nonsense.
The highway department people and contractors here have their hands tied fixing our washed out roads with rock and fill after the hurricane- now that window of time is being slammed off on them. I have no idea where they are getting all these huge granite fill boulders from, the number of dozers and backhoes working the brooks and streams back into shape is amazing- they are everywhere. There is no way these men can do it all at once along with snow removal detail too. My hat's off to those guys who are working 10+ seven days a week so the skiers can come up to have a good time
The pusher tractor is staged and ready so it can glide right down into the thick of it-
3:30 PM 4:30 PM The thrower fitted 126 was giving me some kind of crazy ignition issue but I got it up and running after two hours of messing around pleading. Ran great when I parked it there last week
I have no fresh spark plugs on hand and suspect that was part of the issue, also the dampness right now is very high and cleaning the points helped too I think.
I wanted to park Holly and Insensitive under the deck before the storm today but they both decided to be a couple of cranky ladies too.
Now they can hide under a white blanket and shiver for the next six months for all I care

Got a foot on the ground, generator running for the frig and the computer! Nice having a cub cadet that starts, has lights and can plow it's way to where you have the generator hid! Coal stove got fired up even though the wheel barrow for moving coal has a flat.

That generator was a great insurance policy. ( thank you very much ) Electric never went out for more than a few seconds ( unlike some of my neighbors who still don't have electric ).
My only problem was the cable TV/internet went out on saturday around supper time and finally came back on this afternoon.

Re: The Official Weather Thread!
Well at 2pm today our power got restored.... it went off around 2pm on saturday... Worst power outage Connecticut has ever seen period.... 830,000 customers out of aprox 1,200,000 and the previous record was less then 2 months ago when Irene hit as that was aprox 760,000 customers! The branches simply couldnt take the weight of the leaves and the snow. The maple tree in my backyard lost 18-24 branches.... never seen anything like this in my lifetime.... and pretty sure Gramps at 80 yrs old said he never seen anything like this either!
Trying to save cubs... one at a time.......

Dave, it's good to hear that things are starting to return to normal for all you guys. JoeM, EngineMike, JohnN, along with all the rest out that way good luck to you.
This time around we were very lucky here and that's highly out of place, the lights never even flickered however toward town they without one leg of three phase for just about half a day. Out this way usually, we are among the first to fall off the grid.

This was our first "big" snow storm today. I did a little Ice Road Trucking in my rental truck, because my Sterling was taken out by a 12 point buck last week.
