Have turned away from the idea of altering the gas tank bracket. It's not that big of a deal anyway. However I have modified the cracked muffler support shield.

Looks like a head light plate retainer from a 70/100 or a 1x2-3 series?

Why it sure does not don't it? Funny I never thought of that at the time. ;)
The studs now clear the gas tank by a good amount so Doug was right about the 1/4" dimension, thanks for that tip. At eight bucks apiece I had to take a leap of faith with that one. :lol: The top tin still has some waves to it but that's as good as it is going to get.

Eighty bucks over budget and two weeks overdue, what else was I supposed to expect. I'll do the change out next April.

That's it? I was hoping for a happier ending!!!! Nice job, though. I enjoy watching these threads.
