Have turned away from the idea of altering the gas tank bracket. It's not that big of a deal anyway. However I have modified the cracked muffler support shield.

Looks like a head light plate retainer from a 70/100 or a 1x2-3 series?

Why it sure does not don't it? Funny I never thought of that at the time.
The studs now clear the gas tank by a good amount so Doug was right about the 1/4" dimension, thanks for that tip. At eight bucks apiece I had to take a leap of faith with that one.
The top tin still has some waves to it but that's as good as it is going to get.

Eighty bucks over budget and two weeks overdue, what else was I supposed to expect. I'll do the change out next April.
