782 Carb Needed

Post by ReicheP »

My son just picked up a 782. It may need carb. Any aftermarket carbs suggested?

There are some on EBAY that seem to work pretty well. i have a aftermarket on my 1872 for a few years now. i mean for 15 bucks its a deal.
These ones arent quite 100 percent the same, seems to me the choke is backwards so yo need to attach the cable from a different location. But these days good carter carbs arent easy to come by

I second what Dave said about eBay. Some are great some are bad.

Another option is to make one!

You need a 26 carter from any 10/12 kohler.
Rebuild kit 25-757-02
Your old carb.

Soak and clean the “new” 26 carb, remove needle and seat. Remove choke and throttle shafts from both carbs and install original to the tractor shafts in the new carb. Reassemble using the repair kit. This will make a correct carb from a 782 using easier to find parts.

Either way, good luck!

Thanks for the good suggestions. He's picking it up tonight. It's a nice clean 782 needing minor work.
