The stuff in question is the grey snot which is probably water encapsulated by hy tran. I went after most of it with blue shop towel to wipe it out, but there is some that is hard to reach. Brake clean doesnt seem to touch it.

Too bad you didn't have some good used fluid to run through then drain after a short usage period.

Well that stinks. I would be nervous about spraying it down with other chemicals. My thought is to wipe out what you easily can then install a new filter, fill it up and run it. These are not rocket ships. Over the years I had a couple things with some water contaminated hydraulic fluid. One backhoe was like a vanilla milkshake...well almost. Lol. Maybe change it again next year or sooner as all the fluid that's hiding will have been incorporated and that last change should get most of it out. Kinda like a crankcase full of petro. Good times. Lol

Dag has the right idea, fill it with new, run it and change againin a few weeks/months. Be sure to get things good and warm and use all the lift/drive power steering functions etc.
